Unspeakable

Synopsis

It’s finally my time.

Everyone has their damn breaking point, why did the president of my MC’s daughter have to be mine? She was everything I wanted, and nothing I could have. Being a prospect was hard enough. Living with my father that I had only known for a few years wasn’t making life any easier. And there I was, ready to jeopardize it all for love. I went to Vilas to figure out where I came from, little did I know that I wasn’t just going to be passing through. This life was pumping through my veins, I just didn’t know it until I walked into the Unacceptable’s bar for the first time.

Raine Hellock was my kryptonite and come hell or high water, I was going to figure out how to make her mine.

Bs Review

Unspeakable picks up years after Unacceptable and Raine is all grown up. I enjoyed how strong, feisty, and incredibly stubborn she was, an obvious reflection of her parents. Her fire made me grin and I found myself thoroughly enjoying the grief she gave her parents. I adored getting to see Crickett and Abel well into their happily ever after and settled into their life with the Unacceptables MC. Determined to keep Raine from falling for an Unacceptables brother, Abel finds himself helpless to stop the developing relationship between Ryder and Raine, especially when they have such a solid friendship to build on. I’ll admit that the forbidden nature of their relationship gave them that extra spark and even their failed attempts at sneaking around were amusing. The less than warm and fuzzy feelings between Abel and Ryder added a tension to the story that definitely kept me intrigued. Unspeakable delved deeper into the inner workings of the MC, exposing some of the less than pleasant tasks and highlighting the more dangerous risks required of the brothers. I loved this aspect of the story – getting into the raw and gritty side of MC life and adding another dimension to Unspeakable.

“You’re my always, Ryder. You have my heart.”

While I liked both Raine and Ryder and enjoyed diving into their already established relationship, I definitely would have liked to explore these characters a bit more. I was curious as to how their friendship had grown over the years and what the tipping point was that had them seeing each other in a new light, especially considering Ryder’s role as a prospect and Abel’s rule that Raine was off limits. I wanted to understand what made them decide that the risk was worth it and see some growth from the characters. I did find myself falling in love with Ryder as I read. He was absolutely committed to proving his worth and fighting for Raine even though the consequences could destroy the only sense of family he had left in his life. Kristen Hope Mazzola also delivered plenty of steamy moments that balanced the emotional aspect of Ryder and Raine’s relationship, including plenty of delicious teasing and adorable flirtations. Kristen always introduces her secondary characters in a way that leaves me curious about them and Unspeakable was no exception. I found myself intrigued by some of the peripheral personalities and I hope we’ll be hearing their stories in the future. Unspeakable is a quick, one-sitting read that will make your heart race and leave a grin on your face.

Cs Review

I’m not one to drool over every single motorcycle romance that releases, but I definitely find myself intrigued by Kristen Hope Mazzola’s. There is some quality I can’t pinpoint about the Unacceptables that had me coming back for book two, and wanting more from a book three. Unspeakable is the story of Raine and Ryder, two characters who I wasn’t sure about initially, but ultimately ending up burrowing their way into my heart.

“I had no idea what was going on with my club, I wasn’t allowed to be with my girl, and my life just felt completely out of whack.”

Mazzola’s way of introducing these two as a couple was interesting and honestly kind of fun. However, I will say that I was left curious as to how that initial spark exploded into a firework, especially given the personalities of these two characters. With the dynamic of who they are, and who Raine’s father is, we still got to see a little glimpse of them fighting for their relationship, so I did appreciate that aspect. Raine was spunky and independent, but also extremely loyal to her family. She was such a kindred spirit. I also really fell for Ryder because of how hard he fought to prove his worth. He wasn’t just prospecting into a club; he was fighting for the girl he wanted and I admired his tenacity. I did feel like there was more of a storyline in this book than in the first. There was a little more drama, tidbit more action, and I enjoyed feeling pulled more into the MC setting. I’m not sure if there will be a third book in the series, but I’ll definitely be clicking if there is. These novellas are the perfect afternoon reads to make your heart race and swoon!

Excerpt

“Anything you need, Abel, I’m your man.”

He flicked his cigarette butt onto the ground and stomped out the ember with his steel toed boot. “That’s what I am scared of.”

“You can trust me.”

He dug his hands deep into his pockets. “I know that, son, and that is what scares me the most. My fucking baby girl is going to go through what her mother, Crickett, and my mother went through, that never-ending fear of whether or not their man will make it home at the end of the day.”

“I’m not going to let her down.” I gritted my teeth. There was no fucking way I would put Raine through the pain of losing me.

“You can’t fucking promise that, Ryder. No outlaw can. Our women fight alongside us every goddamned day and there is no way to ease their minds. That’s a burden we all must carry.”

“Until my last breath, I am going to fight for her.”

Abel grabbed my shoulder. “I know. Now let’s go catch a fucking bad guy.”

Time to escape from my mother, her crazy antics and questionable morals. I’m getting the heck out of Dodge, leaving the trailer park, to make something of myself. Everything was fine until I walked into The Unacceptables’ bar and met Abel Hellock. With his gorgeous muscles, tattoos, motorcycle and perfect smile, my knees quaked. Bs Review

Unacceptable is a quick, easy read that doses out just the right amount of sweetness and steam. Kristen Hope Mazzola delivers this stepbrother romance in a unique and satisfying way that even those unsure about the concept will be able to enjoy. Abel will have you melting in no time. This bad boy is oh so good and I loved every minute of his possessive, protective, and stubborn nature. Combine that with his sweet words and appropriately filthy mouth and he’ll have you ready to ride off into the sunset on the back of his bike. His instant connection to Crickett lights a fire that burns hotter as they get to know one another. When Crickett’s newly free and independent personality goes head to head with Abel’s alpha tendencies, their fire blazes, resulting in sarcastic banter, delicious flirting, and scorching encounters.

“Everyone can tell, Crickett. It’s not just about keeping our mouths shut. They can see it all over my face and yours. You’re mine. And that is that.”

I loved that Kristen Hope Mazzola garnered a feeling of total acceptance from the start. Everyone in this story has a history and not all of them are pretty, but Kristen allows these characters to acknowledge and overlook each other’s flaws. This sense of acceptance allowed me to believe in our couple’s whirlwind relationship. The past Crickett is running from gives her the hard edges and understanding heart necessary to accept the life she finds waiting for her, providing her journey a sense of credibility. Crickett’s character developed nicely over the course of this quick novel, leaving behind the girl who didn’t know unconditional love to find the part of herself that finally just belongs.

“What hurt you so badly, babe? Why are you running from something?”
I sighed into him. “I don’t know if I should put it into words or just let all the bad memories die in the past where they belong.”

This story moved quickly and with purpose. While we got hints of the stepbrother and MC storylines, Unacceptable was unquestionably focused on Crickett and Abel. Kristen Hope Mazzola fixated this story on the growth of the characters and the connection between them. She gave these two an instant connection that burned hot and fast, creating some serious sparks among the pages. The secondary characters were a ton of fun, adding another dimension entirely to this story. Holt, Rave, Raine, and the rest of The Unacceptables have me under their spell, and I hope this is not the last we’ll be seeing of them. Unacceptable is one of those books you can grab when you need a pick me up that you can finish in one sitting. Kristen Hope Mazzola has written a gem that is light, sexy, and engaging with this book.

Cs Review

I have been meaning to read a Kristen Hope Mazzola novel for a while now, so when a hot MC stepbrother was in the description, I knew that I’d jump at the opportunity. Unacceptable was a quick read that I found myself not wanting to put down. I may or may not have skipped a meal and sleep just so that I could devour it!

“I’ll be Prince Charming if you need one, but trust me, this prince has a rough side to him.”

Even though the story is described as an MC and a stepbrother romance, I think both aspects are done in an understated fashion. The stepbrother piece, which I can sometimes be hesitant about, was done in a way that actually somehow felt very normal. It wasn’t creepy or anything of that sort. I loved the MC portion because although there were clear traces of the club throughout the story, that’s not what it became about. Unacceptable had a much larger message and a soft side and I thought Mazzola’s execution was spot on.

“We all got some skeletons, Crickett. As long as we don’t let them define us then we can move on. Stop letting them have a hold on you. Don’t let them win.”

Cricket was one of the best heroines I have come across in a long time. She was searching for something and not afraid to take ownership of her life. She recognized that she deserved more and I absolutely loved that she wasn’t afraid to go after it. From the moment we met Abel, there was something about him that I fell in love with. He gave off this hard, protective shell but once you peeled back his layers, there was something so soft and gooey! These two together were just perfection. From the moment they met, readers could feel the sizzle and pop of fireworks, which definitely helped me to not want to put the book down.

“You’re not the only one that was freaking out. I thought I was losing you right when I finally had you.”

If you’re looking for a quick afternoon read with a little spice and a little action, look no further and pick up Unacceptable by Kristen Hope Mazzola. The characters are perfection, the storyline is not drama-filled just for the sake of a story, and there’s just something special about it. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!
