Synopsis

From the internationally best selling author of BAD ROMEO, BROKEN JULIET, and WICKED HEART comes an anthology of sweet and sexy novellas featuring beloved Starcrossed characters such as Ethan and Cassie, Liam and Elissa, and Josh and Angel; as well as the gang from The Grove.

Have Yourself A Sexy Little Christmas: An Ethan and Cassie Novella

Ethan and Cassie’s first Christmas with the Holt family should be nothing but jolly. Sure, Cassie’s a mess trying to impress her future in-laws with the perfect casserole, but when an unexpected blast from Ethan’s past shows up beneath the tree, the season gets a whole lot more serious–and sexy.

The Naughty List: A Liam and Elissa Novella

After being apart for months, Liam and Elissa are making up for lost time on a secluded island, where they think they’re free to explore each other’s bodies in peace. But when it turns out their Christmas sanctuary isn’t as deserted as it first seemed, their Christmas dreams turn into a nightmare.

Happy, Horny New Year: A Josh and Angel Novella

When the gang from the Grove gets together at a lavish New Year’s Eve party, it’s like no time has passed. Except Elissa and Josh are dating Hollywood royalty, Jack and Zoe have been hooking up in secret, Connor’s new girlfriend wants to murder Cassie, and Erika’s mystery man has everyone talking. Before midnight, shocking revelations are made, industry tongues are wagging, and the poor mistletoe is ready to pass out from overuse.

Review

Oh my goodness, I could not be more ecstatic to have the opportunity to dive back into the Starcrossed world. Leisa Rayven’s characters are as saucy and mischievous as ever in this holiday Anthology. Getting a glimpse into where they are and how they spent their winter seasons certainly brought some Christmas cheer to this fan’s face.

Part I is all about Ethan and Cassie and getting a glimpse into their relationship dynamic. Even though I knew how their story ultimately ended, it made me giddy to see how much Ethan endured just to make Cassie happy. I must say that Have Yourself a Sexy Little Christmas brought the characters further to life for me, especially with their playful banter. Getting that inside look of the Christmas before they got married reminded me why they are two of my favorite literary characters.

I really loved that Christmas took on a whole new look for the second novella in the anthology, The Naughty List. Elissa and Holt’s short story was ridiculously hot and fun in an entirely different way from Ethan and Cassie’s. Rayven did an amazing job at staying true to her characters and making them shine in their own way. Furthermore, I liked that it was relatively drama free, but not without something driving their storyline forward. Not to mention that ending…gah! Such perfection!

Finally, Happy, Horny New Year centered around Josh and Angel, and given how vastly different Josh is from the rest of the crew, it really took on a life of its own. I appreciated seeing Josh’s insecurities, yet seeing what Angel saw before he could. This New Year’s Eve novella was sexy, adorable, and certainly had me laughing out loud at times. My only complaint is that now I want more from this couple!

Overall, Bad Romeo Christmas was the perfect read to get me in the mood for some holiday spirit. There was everything I could want from these characters that I have come to love. The Anthology had steam and humor; it contained a little bit of angst and drama, but with the perfect ending to each couple’s novella. Leisa Rayven has granted the wishes of so many of her readers with this release, and I promise you that she most certainly delivers.

The only trouble is, when late night rehearsals bring Elissa and Liam together, the line between what is and what could have been gets blurred. Now one moment of weakness is about to create a scandal that will echo around the world.

Elissa knows that falling for Liam again would be a tragedy in the making, but as any good romantic knows, love doesn’t always follow the script.

Wicked Heart 2

Review

There is something so addicting about Leisa Rayven’s writing. She scripts these beautiful, broken characters that as a reader you want to see them have a happy ending, but as a human being, you almost need to see it happen. Wicked Heart is the third of the Starcrossed novels, and I’d venture to say Rayven’s best one of the series. She continues to grow, push boundaries, and discover new ways to surprise her readers – which I really appreciated.

“Time’s supposed to heal everything, right? Well, it hasn’t educated my heart to stop wanting a man who doesn’t want it back.”

Elissa and Liam had such a different dynamic from Ethan and Cassie, so while the book is in the same series, it never felt like a simple retelling of storylines. I really admired Elissa’s professionalism and ability to lead with her head, rather than her heart. Though she had a history and past with the hero, she respected boundaries despite how difficult it was for her at times. Furthermore, Rayven easily could have made her a petty, childish character. Instead, she was written as a mature, hold-your-head-high heroine that never lost sight of who she was at the core. It made me instantly like her, and truly sympathize with everything she was going through. From the moment we met Liam, he wasn’t a difficult character to love, but there were certainly some hostile feelings that developed over time. However, as the layers were peeled back, my heart swooned and ached for what these two were going through. He was so dedicated and loyal, even if it wasn’t always easy to see. Plus, he was a family man through and through, which always hits me in all the feelers. The chemistry and tension between Elissa and Liam was something so special and could be felt through the pages. With the way Rayven writes them, you could feel everything sizzle and pop with the words. When the characters felt a strong emotion, I could feel it course through my veins, which honestly made for an unforgettable read.

“My therapist says love is like a lion in captivity – it can be embraced, but never tamed.”

When I first picked up Bad Romeo, I knew that Leisa Rayven’s books would be ones that I would jump on to read as soon as possible. Her writing is woven together with heartbreak and laughter on the way to a happily ever after. Her characters have yet to feel like just people on a page; they’ve felt like friends who you experience life with. All of these things translate to feeling such a strong emotional pull that encapsulates you in her worlds. As a reader, I can tell how much heart and soul goes into her stories and my heart always feels a little bit lighter after I finish.

“And that’s why I’m so torn. My head is telling me to go, but my heart wants me to stay. With you.”

I finished Wicked Heart and felt so incredibly satisfied that I couldn’t imagine wanting more. But then I realized that it’s Leisa Rayven, and of course I would love to see her deliver more from these characters, as well as the secondary ones. There is something so realistic and endearing about the way she writes her stories, resulting in her quickly becoming one of my go-to authors. Wicked Heart may have raised the bar on my expectations for her, but I have no doubt that she’ll soar above it when it’s time for her next release!

Broken Juliet

Synopsis

Some loves never let you go…

Cassie swore she’d never forgive Ethan for breaking her heart when they were in acting school years ago. He was her one great love, and when he refused to love her back, a part of her died forever…or so she thought. Now she and Ethan are sharing a Broadway stage, and he’s determined to win her back. Finally he’s able to say all the things she needed to hear years ago…but can she believe him? Has he really changed, and what makes this time different from all his other broken promises?

The answer lies somewhere in the past, and now the truth will come to light. Will Cassie rediscover what it’s like to be trusting and open again–the way she was before Ethan? Or is it too late for these star-crossed lovers?

Broken Juliet 2

Review

If I had envisioned my perfect ending to Ethan and Cassie’s story, Broken Juliet will have fulfilled, and exceeded, all of my requirements! These characters’ journeys pick up where they left off in Bad Romeo, so we’re thrown right back into the push and pull of their relationship. I thought that Rayven did an excellent job in making the past relevant, but not allowing it to consume their present. Basically, these two have burrowed their way into my heart and I don’t see myself letting them go anytime soon.

“Will there ever be a time when we have the forward without the back?”

Where Bad Romeo focused on the issues within Ethan, Broken Juliet held more about the man behind the mask and how he chose to repair those cracks he believed were present. On the other hand, Cassie had turned into a woman devoid of love and the ability to trust. Coincidentally, this made her relate to Ethan on a whole new level. The role reversals were so spectacular and necessary because it allowed each of the characters to walk in the other’s shoes; it forced them to experience their relationship from the other’s heart. Furthermore, it allowed the reader to see just how much each of them fights to get to a good place not only with each other, but with themselves. Once again, I was blown away by the chemistry that these two shared. There is something about the way Rayven writes them that gives you tunnel vision, wanting nothing more than to be burned by the flame of their passion.

“I invented chemistry with you. Everything else is just pretend.”

The back and forth between time periods also felt so imperative for Broken Juliet. I was able to see exactly what instances of their past shaped the present day emotions and actions for both Cassie and Ethan, which resulted in a deeper understanding of their love; it all just flowed so effortlessly. I found myself often singing a Rascal Flatts song thinking that these two had been on such different broken roads, but ultimately, it led them to each other, and we’re all better for it. In a sense, two book characters opened my eyes and made me believe in the idea of soulmates.

“We just stand there for a while. Breathing each other in. Being. Still not fixed, but far less broken.”

I was a moth to a flame with Broken Juliet. I wanted nothing more than to forego every responsibility I had to get lost and bury myself in this world. There is something that sucks you in and leaves you breathless while simultaneously breathing air into your lungs. I’m not ready to say goodbye to Ethan and Cassie yet, but I’m also satisfied with how their story ended. Rayven has an immense talent for writing in the way that she can paint images and emotions for her readers, and I’m definitely intrigued to see what she can deliver to us in the future!

Bad Romeo

Synopsis

While performing the greatest love story of all time, they discovered one of their own…

Cassie Taylor was just another acting student with big dreams at her prestigious performing arts college, then she met Ethan Holt. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy on campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing on stage, Cassie and Ethan’s epic romance seemed destined. Until it ended in tragedy when he shattered her heart.

Now they’ve made it to Broadway where they’re reunited as romantic leads once again, and their passionate scenes force them to confront the heartbreaking lows and pulse-pounding highs of their intense college affair. For Ethan, losing Cassie was his biggest regret, and he’s determined to redeem himself. But for Cassie, even though Ethan was her first and only great love, he hurt her too much to ever be trusted again. The trouble is, working with him reminds her that people who rub each other the wrong way often make the best sparks. And when it comes to love, sometimes it’s the things that aren’t good for us that are the most irresistible.

Don’t miss the intoxicating romance beloved by over two million fans online–a story that will captivate you and hold you breathless until the final page.

Review

AH! If you haven’t picked up Bad Romeo yet, or it’s been sitting on your e-reader, move it to the top of your list ASAP! There is just something about Rayven’s writing that causes you to fall in utter love with these characters. She writes them with a special charm that leaves you mesmerized and turning the pages; heck, you’ll even come to appreciate every ounce of angst and tug at your heartstrings.

“It seems to fragile, yet it somehow manages to endure, even with cracks and scratches.”

Ethan was one of those broken heroes that every girl wishes she could fix while Cassie was the girl who was searching for her place in the world. I loved that even in moments of seemingly being put together, these were the roots of their personalities. However, what impressed me the most was the role reversals we experienced. Dependent on the time period these two were in, they did a complete flip flop in their insecurities. It allowed me as a reader to get a well-rounded impression of who they were, resulting in a multi-dimensional feel to their characters.

“Personally, I find perfect glass boring.”

Cassie and Ethan have what can most simply be described as a love/hate relationship, but in the perfect way. They fought hard, yet loved even harder, even when denying their attraction. Quite honestly, they brought this entire story to life for me. They would be described as having this perfect chemistry on stage. However, all those descriptions that the author included are what I felt in their “real life” moments as a couple. They seemed to sizzle and pop from the pages and I never wanted to leave their sides.

“I love all of those pieces, and the scars of their survival make them even more beautiful in my eyes.”

If you asked me what stood Bad Romeo apart from other books, I would have a hard time pinpointing it. The novel simply has a special quality to it that sucked me in, kept me invested, and left me wanting more. I’m incredibly anxious to read more of Ethan and Cassie’s journey, and see more of the character growth I witnessed in Bad Romeo. I’m kicking myself for not starting sooner, but definitely glad I can jump right in to Broken Juliet!
