RELEASE DAY BLITZ – Rome’s Chance by Joanna Wylde

Title: Rome’s Chance
Author: Joanna Wylde
Series: Reapers MC #6.6
Release Date: April 24, 2018

Rome McGuire knew he was in trouble the first time he saw her.

She was sweet and pretty and just about perfect in every way. She was also too young and innocent for the Reapers Motorcycle Club. He did the right thing, and walked away.

The second time, he couldn’t resist tasting her.

Gorgeous and smart, fun and full of wonder, she jumped on his bike and would’ve followed him anywhere. Still, she deserved a shot at happiness somewhere bigger and better than a town like Hallies Falls. Walking away wasn’t so easy that time, but her family needed her and he had a job to do.

When she came around a third time, he’d had enough. Randi Whittaker had been given two chances to escape, and now it was time for Rome to take his.

This time, the only way Randi would be leaving Hallies Falls was on the back of Rome’s bike.

Joanna Wylde returns to the world of the Reapers MC with her sweet, sexy novella, Rome’s Chance! While I’m not sure I would categorize this as a second-chance romance (the couple went on one date years before this story takes place), there is a definite familiarity between Rome and Randi that sparks an instant and intense chemistry. As Randi tries to resist Rome’s pull, the tension becomes palpable to the point of combustion and that moment when these two finally collide is seriously satisfying. I enjoyed getting to know Randi, but I definitely would have liked to unravel Rome a bit more. His apparent dichotomy was certainly captivating, but I felt as if this story barely scratched the surface of what made this hero tick. Heartfelt, angsty, and utterly electric, Rome’s Chance has a little bit of everything I’ve come to love about Joanna Wylde’s writing.

“I wasn’t used to taking chances. Taking chances meant taking risks, and most of my life had been damage control.”

This is a quick read that packs quite the emotional punch. Rome’s Chance tackles some real issues with plenty of sexy interludes sprinkled in to fan the flames of this couple’s electric attraction. Admittedly, the pacing was a bit uneven with the storyline building steadily only to resolve fairly quickly. I was definitely left wanting more of Rome and Randi then what this novella delivered. If you’re a fan of Joanna Wylde and her delicious biker book boyfriends, you’ll be happy to get glimpses of some familiar faces further into their happily ever afters. For new readers, this standalone novella is a great taste of the raw emotion, intriguing storyline, and unforgettable characters that make up the Reapers MC series. Enchanting, colorful, and as addictive as ever, Rome’s Chance will leave you wanting more from Joanna Wylde!

“Randi?” I froze, because I knew that voice.

Rome McGuire.

The sound was rough and sexy, with just a hint of a growl. Deeper than it’d been eight years ago, when I’d thrown caution to the wind and hopped on the back of his motorcycle for one glorious night.

Back then, I’d still been a shy little thing, terrified that some hot biker might actually want to talk to me, let alone take me out. When I caught him watching me at the party, I remembered studying the floor, his shirt collar, even the beer in my plastic cup, because I hadn’t known what to do with myself around such raw male glory. Apparently some things never change, because when I turned to face him, I found myself staring at the floor again.

This was a mistake, because his feet were down there. And the battered, black leather boots he wore led to jeans-covered legs. Legs topped by thick, muscular thighs.

Stop it. You’re acting like a giant dork! My brain hissed.

Oblivious and mesmerized, my gaze rose to the faded denim around his fly, and it was all over. My eyes started tracing the folds of the Okanogan Fire and Rescue T-shirt covering his still-muscular chest, although the Reapers Motorcycle Club vest he wore was a change. Back then, he’d been hanging around the Nighthawk Raiders MC. That whole club had disappeared for reasons I’d never fully understood, and the Reapers had taken over the town shortly afterward. Apparently Rome was one of them now.

Interesting…

I’d always wondered what’d happened to Rome after I’d left. We’d never said goodbye. That summer, the wildfires had swept through so fast that my family had to evacuate with the clothes on our backs. We hadn’t bothered to come back and sift through the ashes.

I’d kept in touch with my old boss, Tinker, of course.

I’d even considered asking her about Rome, but in some ways those fires were the best thing that ever happened to me. Starting over meant starting college in Missoula, and then a whole new life.

Wasn’t like Rome and I could’ve ever been anything real, anyway. Guys like him weren’t for girls like me.

My gaze reached his neck, which bristled with thick, black stubble that was more than a little out of control—this was different from when I’d known him before. Not that he’d ever been baby-faced, but he’d definitely matured. Now there were a few wrinkles around those dark blue eyes, although the dimple was still there. So was the crooked smile that’d spontaneously combusted my panties.

Correction.

A crooked smile that was currently combusting my panties. Who knew that a supermarket could be such dangerous territory?

“Been a long time,” he said. I shrugged, unsure what to say. I mean, yeah, we’d gone out on a date. He’d kissed me and wow… Not that we’d gotten much past second base, but he’d scored a home run in the lower deck of my ballpark, if you know what I mean. But he was one of those guys—you know, the kind of guys who hit lots of home runs with lots of girls.

“Yeah, well…” My words trailed off.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ – Shade’s Lady by Joanna Wylde

Title: Shade’s Lady
Author: Joanna Wylde
Series: Reapers MC #6.5
Release Date: March 14, 2017

Looking back, none of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t dropped my phone in the toilet. I mean, I could’ve walked away from him if I’d had it with me.

Or maybe not.

Maybe it was all over the first time he saw me, and he would’ve found another way. Probably—if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that Shade always gets what he wants, and apparently he wanted me.

Right from the first.

With Shade’s Lady, Joanna Wylde delivers a tantalizing tale of loyalty, lust and love that will leave you begging for more. This 1001 Dark Nights novella is the perfect addition to the Reapers MC series and a fun, sexy look at Shade, their national President. I absolutely loved getting to know this gritty, alpha biker and I found myself sucked right back into the Reapers MC world. Joanna Wylde has an incredible talent for maintaining her own special brand of family with these characters and Shade’s Lady definitely did not disappoint. I loved seeing so many familiar faces and appreciated the unconditional love and unwavering loyalty the brothers continue to demonstrate time and time again. Shade and Mandy, while a seemingly reluctant pair, proved to be the perfect duo and I found myself falling in love with their delightful push and pull as we got to experience their journey.

“How was I in his arms again? Wonder Woman would be so disappointed.”

Mandy was unexpected for sure. As was the way in which she and Shade got together. The beginning of their relationship was awkward, infuriating and so full of heat that I swear this couple left the pages singed. I loved the depth that Joanna Wylde gave Mandy. I hadn’t expected so much heartbreaking history or raw emotion when it came to our feisty heroine, but her personal issues and the things she had endured throughout her life made her the strong, independent ball-buster she undoubtedly was. I enjoyed getting to know her sister and nieces and felt like seeing them all together gave me a better idea of the kind of woman Mandy really was. Shade was also a constant surprise. His chivalry, protective instincts and unspoken need to claim Mandy for his own left me absolutely swooning. I loved how easily she pushed Shade’s buttons and yet he couldn’t help but be completely enthralled by her. Not only did Shade and Mandy share an obvious chemistry, but there was also evidence of something deeper between them from the very beginning that ensured I was totally hooked on their journey.

“I’m not sayin’ I’ll never need a getaway car, but if I do, I sure as shit won’t trick my woman into driving it.”

Joanna Wylde did a fantastic job balancing the sinfully sexy moments with all of the action, intrigue and honest emotions of this story. I was easily captivated from the very beginning and devoured Shade and Mandy’s story in no time at all. There was a great mix of personal growth, relationship development and MC adventure in Shade’s Lady. Joanna Wylde definitely knows how to overlap each area of the storyline to build something thrilling and memorable. I couldn’t have guessed how Mandy’s family life would play into Shade’s MC world but I adored watching it all unravel. The collision of their two worlds made for a significant journey that overflowed with genuine emotion and sizzled at all the right moments. Of course, I would love to know more about Shade, how he got to where he was, and what else was in store for him and Mandy. I suppose that’s the genius of this incredibly talented author though – she always leaves me desperate for more. Well written, perfectly paced, and full of feels, Shade’s Lady is another unforgettable Reapers MC romance from Joanna Wylde.

“Did you get my text?” Sara asked, pushing through the office door. I’d just finished tying my apron around my waist, and was leaning toward the cracked mirror on the wall for one last makeup check before punching in.

“No,” I replied, frowning. “Dropped my cell in the toilet this morning. I called the phone people. They said I didn’t have any insurance, so I’m fucked. I put it on Future Me’s list of things to worry about.”

Sadly, Future Me’s list got longer every day. She was supposed to pay our credit card bill, figure out whether we should break up with our boyfriend, and find a better place to sleep than my sister’s couch. She also needed to lose ten pounds and magically fix the rusted-out Kia Sedona currently broken down in my sister’s yard.

Present Me would’ve felt guilty about dumping all this on the poor thing, but I only had three minutes left to punch in and start slinging drinks for drunken bikers, so it would just have to wait.

Yup. I’m organized like that.

Studying my reflection, I ran an eye down the length of my body. Tight tank with a hint of bra showing? Check. (Nothing like some boob action to bring in the tips. Not only that, Rebel had said he’d be here tonight, and he always liked seeing the girls.)

Lipstick was bright and shiny, no smudges on the teeth. More eye makeup than I’d usually wear, but ever since I’d started hanging out with Rebel’s biker friends, I’d kicked it up a notch. Made me look wild and sexy. Not gonna lie—I liked this new me. I liked her a lot. I guess if there was one good thing about my sister’s life falling apart—and me moving to Violetta to help with the kids—it was that it’d forced me to change my life, too.

Reaper's Fire

Synopsis

The club comes first.

I’ve lived by those words my whole life—assumed I’d die by them, too, and I never had a problem with that. My Reaper brothers took my back and I took theirs and it was enough. Then I met her. Tinker Garrett. She’s beautiful, she’s loyal, and she works so damned hard it scares me sometimes . . . She deserves a good man—one better than me. I can’t take her yet because the club still needs me. There’s another woman, another job, another fight just ahead.

Now she’ll learn I’ve been lying to her all along. None of it’s real. Not my name, not my job, not even the clothes I wear. She thinks I’m nice. She pretends we’re just friends, that I’ve still got a soul . . . Mine’s been dead for years. Now I’m on fire for this woman, and a man can only burn for so long before he destroys everything around him.

I’m coming for you, Tinker.

Soon.

Reapers Fire_4

Review

Joanna Wylde is back with a bang in this newest installment of the Reapers MC series. Reaper’s Fire packs all the heat, action, and emotion I’ve come to love from this series and then some. Gage’s story is a bit different from previous books, taking place away from home and undercover. While I missed seeing the rest of the Reapers for so much of the story, Joanna Wylde introduces some fantastic new characters that kept me laughing, feeling, and falling in love. Carrie in particular proved to be a hilarious and fiercely protective best friend I just couldn’t get enough of. Her relationship with Tinker reminded me of my own best friend and left my heart feeling full. Reaper’s Fire is unmistakably sizzling. Gage has a dirty mouth and an even filthier inner monolog. He definitely knows how to make a reader blush. Gage and Tinker shared a chemistry that was absolutely electric and watching them fight the sparks was nothing short of entertaining. I loved their sexy banter, filthy flirtations, and the delicious tension that practically poured from this couple. Joanna Wylde has created a fantastic dynamic between Gage and Tinker that fans of the series and anyone who loves MC romance will not want to miss!

“But there’s something there. Feels real to me. I’m not gonna walk away until I know what it is.”

As always, Ms. Wylde delivers some great character development in Reaper’s Fire. Tinker took me by complete surprise. From the very first page my heart ached for her. The raw emotions with which her past unfolded were more than enough to pull me deep into this story. As Joanna Wylde further unraveled this character, her pain and grief made way for a loyalty and ferocity that blew everything else away. I loved the feisty, sarcastic, and sometimes totally badass Tinker that slowly made herself known. The push and pull between her and Gage was utterly addictive and I found myself not only rooting for Tinker, but connecting to her as well. Gage’s development was a bit more unconventional. The side of him we saw when he was on MC business was less than desirable, leaving me to defer to his private thoughts of resentment and regret towards his situation for a glimpse at his true character. As his relationship with Tinker developed, Gage allowed himself to let go of the façade and I quickly fell in love with the sweet, helpful, protective, scorching hot alpha male that revealed himself. When we finally get to see Gage back with the Reapers and settled in as a major player in Tinker’s life, that final piece of the puzzle fell into place and I was left a swoony mess at the hands of this biker BBF.

“I’ve been suffocating, waiting for you, and I don’t think you’ve had it any easier, have you?”

One of the things that struck me with this novel was the way in which Joanna Wylde integrated recent events related to the setting of the book into her storyline. Not only did she incorporate the massive local wildfires that plagued the region into Gage and Tinker’s story, but she did so in a way that was fascinating and informative for the reader. This successfully grounded Joanna Wylde’s fictional world in reality and left me with a better appreciation for everything the locals must have. Admittedly, Reaper’s Fire got off to a bit of a slow start. While the groundwork was being laid I was getting impatient, ready for some action to get my blood pumping. Once the story picks up, however, it is impossible to put down. The MC drama is off the charts and Gage definitely had my heart pounding a time of two. I would have liked a more solid resolution in terms of the storylines with Marsh, Talia, and Brandon instead of just assuming that things eventually settle, but I will say, Joanna Wylde knows how to write an Epilogue! She pulled the story to a close in a heartfelt way that gave me all the feels and left me feeling nostalgic. Sexy, suspenseful, and wonderfully written, Reaper’s Fire is another MC win for Joanna Wylde!

Series: Reapers MC #5
Release Date: November 10, 2015

reaper's fall cover

Synopsis

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

Reapers Fall_1

Review

When it comes to MC men, Joanna Wylde never lets a girl down. Reaper’s Fall is Painter and Melanie’s story and this novel was undeniably theirs in every single way. Considering their different backgrounds and vastly different plans for the future, I expected their story to be angst-ridden and heartbreaking, yet I was still overcome by how tortured and twisted their journey turned out to be. Having only briefly explored the connection between them before Painter was sent to Prison and their communication became limited to letters, Painter and Melanie had an excruciatingly long build-up of tension between them. This agonizing delay of gratification resulted in a chemistry that was highly combustible. I swear there were times when I thought the pages would catch fire from the incredible heat these two were slinging at each other. The dynamic Joanna Wylde created with this couple was absolutely one-of-a-kind and it took no time at all before I was completely consumed by their messy, chaotic world.

“I still wanted better for her. Someone nice, who’d work a steady job, maybe take her to Hawaii every other year. Wash her car on Saturday mornings. Unfortunately, every time I tried to picture the guy, he was dead at my feet.”

This series is special in that no one feels like a secondary character. Everyone in the background plays such a crucial role to the story and has at some point stolen the show that you just can’t imagine the book without them. Reaper’s Fall was no exception. London and Puck both served as confidants, anchoring Melanie and Painter when their relationship was nothing but a hurricane of hurt. Reese, ever the surprise, stepped up as a father figure of sorts, despite his constant protests that he was done with daughters. Emmy, Kit, and Jessica were the definition of trouble. This trio brought levity and humor to an otherwise gut-wrenching story. Their out of control antics, insane ideas, hilarious banter, and general mayhem had me doubled over in laughter. They were downright ridiculous at times drawing out a goofy grin and feel good moment right when the reader needed a break in the tension. I’m still shaking my head at some of the things they instigated in this book. I adore the way Joanna Wylde has written the women of this series to be total forces of nature, strong, ferocious, and unapologetic in their badass-ery.

“Join the dark side, Melanie. We have cake.”

One of the reasons Reaper’s Fall packed such a powerful punch was because of the explosive energy that surrounded Painter and Melanie’s relationship. To say they were opposites would be an understatement. Melanie was different from the heroines we’ve seen so far in this series. Her malevolence towards the club after Painter’s incarceration on behalf of the MC was intense and unwavering. Mel’s absolute refusal to accept club culture and Painter’s inability to see anything beyond his patch put them at odds more times than not. They straddled the line of love and hate so precariously that I held my breath waiting for the moment when they fell one way or the other. Joanna Wylde did a great job balancing the destructive consequences of such a fundamental disagreement and the growth of both characters as they were forced to blend their worlds. Painter’s growth from a boy resigned to a life of recklessness with the Reapers to a man with the courage to love fiercely and selflessly was simply stunning, leaving me surprised by how much I felt for this character when all was said and done.

“If I had to fall in love with an asshole, at least he was a hot asshole.”

Reaper’s Fall was an incredibly thrilling journey. In addition to all of the relationship drama, the Reapers, Jacks, and Bastards have never been more on edge. This book was a ticking time bomb with the characters putting themselves in danger again and again, keeping me absolutely riveted to the pages. I am in awe of the amount of detail and careful planning that has gone into the overarching plot of this series. Joanna Wylde has so thoroughly mapped out this complicated MC world that with each additional book and every new character more pieces fall into place in the bigger picture. Even now, I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, desperate for more of this phenomenal series. Painter and Melanie’s journey was definitely unforgettable. They were volatile in a way that never should have worked. However, the qualities that generated so much friction between them became the reason their relationship was real and sustainable. I felt their story deeply, my heart aching at each and every turn for all they had lost and all they had yet to fight through. Reaper’s Fall is every bit the journey I’d envisioned for these two and then some, once again confirming Joanna Wylde’s incredible talent and proving that there is always something exciting and unexpected in store for the Reapers MC.

Excerpt

“You want to watch a movie or something?” she asked, nodding toward the TV. I had a decent one, too. Giant-ass flat-screen—homecoming present from the club.

“Sure,” I said, reaching for the remote. I didn’t have cable, but Ruger had set up some kind of box thingie for me so I could stream shit. “Whatcha in the mood for?”

“Not horror,” she said quickly, and I laughed again, remembering that first evening I’d spent with her at Pic’s house. She’d been so young and scared and vulnerable . . . I’d wanted to eat her up.

I still wanted to eat her.

“I can’t believe that you and Puck were supposed to be watching over me, and then you put in a slasher movie. That’s not how you make a girl feel safe.”

“No horror,” I agreed, although the thought of holding her for a couple hours while she was scared shitless appealed way more than it should. Watch it, asshole. “How about Star Wars?”

“You like Star Wars?”

I shrugged. “Everyone likes Star Wars. You know, I’m pretty damned sure Han Solo was a biker.”

She giggled. “You mean, like a space biker?”

“See, when you say it like that it sounds stupid.”

“I wanted to be Princess Leia. She’s badass,” she said, taking a deep drink of her beer. I watched as her lips wrapped around the neck, her throat swallowing. Oh fuck, that was good. She set the beer down on the coffee table with a clink, then let loose with the biggest burp I’d ever heard.

“Fucking hell,” I said, stunned. “I didn’t think girls could burp like that. Shit. Impressive, Mel. Very impressive.”

She grinned at me.

“We’re friends,” she told me. “And friends don’t need to worry about stuff like that. Let me guess—you’ve never had a female friend before?”

“Not really,” I admitted. “I’m think I’m a little scared.”

Scared and turned on, which was weird.

“You should be. I can do the whole alphabet.”

Damn. I kinda wanted to see that.

Reapers and Bastards

Synopsis

Charming Bastard: A Novella
I first met Riley Boone when I was four years old. We moved to Callup, Idaho after my dad blew out his back and had to go on disability. Boonie’s family lived next to ours. Every afternoon he’d swagger off the school bus after kindergarten like a conquering king. For the first week he ignored me, until I impressed him by climbing nearly thirty feet up in the tree behind his trailer. They had to call the fire department to get me down, but it was worth it to see the respect in his five-year-old eyes. He gave me a worm in honor of my accomplishment. I fell in love. The next day he made me eat the worm and our relationship has been complicated ever since.

Sticky Sweet: A Short Story
Horse and Marie met for the first time in Reaper’s Property. Now experience this moment through his eyes.

Skunked: A Short Story
Marie has some BIG news to share with Horse—news that will change both their lives forever….

Sugar and Spice: A Short Story
A prequel to Reaper’s Fall, this story features Painter and Melanie’s first meeting.

Review

Charming Bastard: A Novella (Silver Valley #1.5)

Having seen Boonie and Darcy together, I wouldn’t have guessed they had such a tumultuous past. A few bumps along the way, sure, but my heart ached for them as the universe seemed hell bent on making things difficult for them. Through the tragedy and hurt, Joanna Wylde gave these two a feeling of being fated that made their story so incredibly special. I’m a sucker for childhood friends that fall in and out of love with each other because there is just something undeniably beautiful about the sweet innocence of childhood growing into a true and all-consuming love. Now that I know what they’ve been through, I’ll probably be grinning every time I encounter them in future books. Charming Bastard had a little bit of everything I’ve come to love about Joanna Wylde’s writing. Sizzling chemistry, heartfelt characters, snarky banter, and a thrilling storyline kept me absolutely mesmerized by this novella. Charming Bastard was heart wrenching, pulse pounding, and over way too soon!

Sticky Sweet: A Short Story

Gah! I absolutely adored seeing this scene from Horse’s point of view. The moment he met Marie was intense and from her point of view it was totally confusing. We had no idea what was going through his head and he certainly had no problem pushing her buttons despite having just met. It was deeply satisfying seeing her through his eyes and feeling that immediate spark between them. Joanna Wylde revealed Horse’s motivations for how he acted towards Marie and hinted at the early feelings of something deeper developing between Horse and Marie. This scene was over too soon, and had me wanting to go back to the beginning of this series. Joanna Wylde had me falling in love with Horse and Marie all over again!

Skunked: A Short Story

This short story was so much fun! For starters, this story was just hilarious. The absurdity of being interrupted while discussing serious, life-altering news by something so totally ridiculous was definitely amusing. I also have to applaud Joanna Wylde for her ability to condense everything I’ve grown to love about Horse and Marie into so few pages. Skunked brought to life the scorching heat, intense emotions, fantastic banter, and delicious friction that sizzles between these two and makes them so irresistible. Joanna delivers a much needed dose of Horse’s fierce alpha personality, giving us a glimpse of the possessive, jealous, passionate man that knows how to drive Marie crazy like no one else can. Marie’s own feisty and stubborn nature made an appearance as well, pushing back at Horse and ramping up the sexual tension to those explosive levels I’ve come to adore from these two. Joanna Wylde expertly captured the essence of Marie and Horse, their individual personalities and fabulous relationship dynamic in this fun, sexy, silly short story that was the perfect addition to their journey.

Sugar and Spice: A Short Story

Joanna Wylde is such a tease! I absolutely loved this short story about Painter and Melanie’s first meeting. This author undoubtedly knows what she’s doing because she left me incredibly anxious for Reaper’s Fall! Since we witnessed their first encounter from an outsider’s point of view in Reaper’s Stand, I was excited to see it from their perspective. I wondered what Mel was thinking and whether Painter’s motivations were straightforward or not. Even from the outside their connection was obvious so I couldn’t wait to get inside their heads. Joanna Wylde let us glimpse the beginning of their friendship from both points of view, allowing us to see each character through the other’s eyes. Despite the short length of this story, Joanna gives us a peek at the initial character development, action-packed story, and entertaining exchanges she has in store for Mel and Painter. The chemistry between them crackled and even though I knew how this short story would end, I still found myself wishing for a different outcome. Joanna Wylde has definitely laid the groundwork for a fun, sexy, and surprisingly emotional full-length novel for this couple and I’m totally ready to dive in. Sugar and Spice is the perfect way to get acquainted with Painter and Melanie before experiencing the next piece of their story in Reaper’s Fall.

Reapers Stand_2

Review

With each book in the Reapers MC Series, Joanna Wylde raises the bar just a little bit higher. Reaper’s Stand was no exception, delivering a thrilling story full of suspense and colorful characters that made me feel. After getting to know Picnic a little bit in Devil’s Game, I was definitely excited to get my hands on his story. Since he’d already loved and lost, I knew Reaper’s Stand would be angsty but Picnic’s story was so much more. Together, London and Picnic are the perfect duo. Opposite in all the right ways, they clashed just enough to create a delicious tension that ensured their journey was hot, feisty, and unforgettable. Their instant chemistry got me hooked while their developing connection reeled me in until I was so immersed in their journey that I just couldn’t stop reading. Joanna introduced a couple new characters and delved a little deeper with some familiar ones, ensuring that I’ll be back to hear their stories too. Reaper’s Stand had me totally enthralled as Joanna Wylde took London and Picnic on one hell of a wild ride!

“Then he smiled at me, the kind of smile a shark gives a castaway right before it rips her leg off.”

Joanna Wylde really outdid herself with Picnic’s character development. He was far more complex than I’d imagined and getting to know him quickly became an obsession. There were so many sides to this man and seeing how they all fit together was almost magical. Not only is Picnic badass biker royalty, but also fiercely loyal and maddeningly protective of those he loves. Every time he helped London, he showed a compassion and kindness that blew me away. He was such a beautiful contradiction of power and concern, reflecting a quality of character that was undeniably human. London was Picnic’s match in every way. Her own unconditional loyalty rivaled his. I loved watching London’s growth over the course of this novel. Picnic awakened a passion for living and a desire to love that had long been dormant. Seeing the fire inside her become an intense inferno was beyond satisfying. Joanna Wylde wrote these characters with a natural push and pull that proved mutually challenging and ultimately beneficial for this couple. As a reader, I got to just sit back and enjoy the consequences of their friction.

“I’m small, Reese, but I’m persistent. Like a rabid ferret. Don’t make me bite you, because my teeth are very sharp.”

As far as the storyline goes, this was probably the most thrilling book in the series so far. With things escalating between the MCs and the cartel, the story took a dangerous and heart-pounding turn. Joanna Wylde takes this story deep into the dark and gritty side of MC life while keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Every unexpected twist had me holding my breath and more than once I found myself wanting to throw something. Joanna has certainly mastered the dramatic build-up, creating an undeniable and palpable tension as I waited for all hell to break loose. Amongst the chaos of MC business was Picnic and London’s relationship. Their developing feelings and easy friendship was a light in the darkness and I found myself drawn to them. They had a raw passion all their own that made me blush, but there was a deeper, more meaningful emotional connection there as well. It was that something special that made me fall so hard for this fantastic couple. Once again, Joanna Wylde leaves me wanting more, giving her readers just enough to leave me desperate for the next book in the series!

REVIEW – Devil’s Game by Joanna Wylde

Devils Game Banner

Title: Devil’s Game
Author: Joanna Wylde
Series: Reapers MC #3

Devils Game

Synopsis

Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies—the Reapers—using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger—a man who isn’t afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn’t afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One.

Or so she thinks.

Review

Devil’s Game is definitely my favorite book in this series so far! Hunter and Em’s story was intense, emotional, and full of suspense. This modern day MC Romeo & Juliet was easily all consuming. From page one I was hooked, unable to devour this story fast enough. Hunter and Em’s undeniable chemistry made for plenty of friction as they fought their growing feelings. The resultant banter, sexual tension, and scorching moments of surrender made for a rollercoaster of emotions. Joanna Wylde had me laughing loudly and blushing furiously, while I enjoyed the sparks flying between Hunter and Em. I loved the thrill that came with the forbidden overtone of Devil’s Game, it nurtured an anxiety that fueled my need to keep reading. Em and Hunter’s personal conflict set against the struggle between the two MCs created a dynamic that was absolutely thrilling. Devil’s Game is everything I love about this subgenre and then some. Joanna Wylde’s delivery of MC romance is simply unparalleled.

“You deserve a man who’ll fight for you, baby girl. You remember that, all right?”

Just thinking about Hunter has me shaking my head. I was so conflicted about this character in the beginning and even after I was sure I loved him, I had my moments of doubt. Joanna Wylde did such an incredible job balancing his absolutely swoon-worthy moments with those tiny seeds of doubt that kept that sense of impending betrayal in the back of my mind. Ultimately, his outrageous alpha personality and surprising emotional honesty had Hunter moving to the top of my list of favorite biker book boyfriends. Emmy underwent significant character growth in Devil’s Game and it really transformed the way I felt about and connected with the character. Initially I felt for her in regards to the constraints her father put on her life, but somewhere in the middle I started getting mad at her/on her behalf. I found myself siding with Em’s sister and praying she’d find her backbone and take control of her own life. Joanna Wylde did not disappoint. When Em came into her own, spread her wings, and found her strength, I knew this fierce character was one I could get behind.

“Still, fearsome Em was fuckin’ adorable. Kind of like a really angry baby mouse.”

Everything about this novel was expertly done. The writing was superb and the pacing was perfect, hitting the highs and lows of the story at just the right times to keep me from getting overwhelmed or becoming bored. Joanna Wylde really drew me in with this storyline. I was so excited to see the events at the end of Reaper’s Legacy from Em’s point of view. It had been driving me crazy not knowing what happened between her and Hunter. I loved the escalation between the Reapers and Jacks. The tension was absolutely palpable and it kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. One of the best things about this series is the way the previous couples are carefully integrated into each of the books so that while the individual book clearly belongs to one couple, the series and the Reapers MC unmistakably belongs to all of them. I loved catching up with Marie and Horse, Ruger and Sophie, and getting a more personal and in-depth look at Picnic before his story in the next book. Devil’s Game is another phenomenal novel from Joanna Wylde and the perfect addition to this unforgettable series!

REVIEW – Reaper’s Legacy by Joanna Wylde

Reaper's Legacy Banner

Title: Reaper’s Legacy
Author: Joanna Wylde
Series: Reapers MC #2

reapers-legacy

Synopsis

Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart-and her virginity-to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.

She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious-her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands-with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club-to give them a better life.

Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way.

Reapers Legacy_1

Review

Reaper’s Legacy is Ruger’s story and it was every bit the raw, gritty, intense, and emotional journey I’d expected. Joanna Wylde officialy has me hooked on this series and there is no turning back now! Ruger and Sophie have a long history, related through Sophie’s son, Noah, who also happens to be Ruger’s nephew. Ruger’s determination to take care of her and Noah means keeping her close and letting her into his world. As Sophie tries to navigate the MC lifestyle, Ruger is forced to confront his feelings for her and the result is utterly explosive. These two fought hard and loved harder, simultaneously driving me crazy and warming my heart. Joanna Wylde has created an incredible dynamic between these two that was strongly rooted in family. Reaper’s Legacy explored the meaning of loyalty and unconditional love both in and out of the club, resulting in a story that overflowed with the comfort and safety of finding your true family.

“Things had changed between us in a profound way, something I think we both knew.”

At first glance, Ruger appears to be the typical alpha biker book boyfriend. He’s promiscuous, controlling, demanding, and unapologetic. There were times where I wanted to punch him in the face, specifically when he demanded Sophie obey his rules while he was free to do whatever (or whoever) he wanted. As the story progressed, Joanna Wylde unraveled this complicated man and allowed reader’s to discover a character with unexpected depth. Ruger’s relationship with Noah will have your heart melting. Nothing is sexier than seeing a big bad biker turn to mush with a child. Sophie, on the other hand, has not had it easy. Her struggle is palpable from the beginning and I quickly found myself feeling for her. Around Ruger she seemed to find her strength, surprising me with her feisty and independent nature. I loved watching her push back, eventually taking a stand and a controlling hand in her own life. Her growth as a character over the course of this novel was staggering and I couldn’t have been happier with the way Joanna Wylde developed this character.

“Nothing says “commitment” like accessory to murder.”

Sophie’s history with Ruger’s stepbrother remains a mystery for a good part of the story but as the pieces of the puzzle come together, we’re left with a harsh truth that clearly haunts both Sophie and Ruger. Their guilt, devastation, and undeniable attraction makes for a situation that can only be described as volatile. Reaper’s Legacy packed some seriously intense heat, ensuring this book was one I couldn’t put down. Joanna Wylde has done an incredible job with the overarching MC plotline that connects the books in this series. I loved seeing old characters again and found myself immediately caught up in the MC drama. The Reapers MC was in for a rough ride with this one and I had no trouble finding myself consumed by the suspense right from the start. This book was simply thrilling, taking several twists and turns I never saw coming. Filled with beautifully rough, charming characters and an addictive storyline, Reaper’s Legacy is everything you could want in a MC romance and more! I can’t wait to see what Joanna Wylde has in store for the Reapers next.

REVIEW – Reaper’s Property by Joanna Wylde

Reaper's Property Banner

Title: Reaper’s Property
Author: Joanna Wylde
Series: Reapers MC #1

Reaper's Property

Synopsis

Marie doesn’t need a complication like Horse. The massive, tattooed, badass biker who shows up at her brother’s house one afternoon doesn’t agree. He wants Marie on his bike and in his bed. Now.

But Marie just left her abusive jerk of an ex-husband and she’s not looking for a new man. Especially one like Horse—she doesn’t know his real name or where he lives, she’s ninety percent certain he’s a criminal and that the “business” he talks with her brother isn’t website design. She needs him out of her life, which would be a snap if he’d just stop giving her mind-blowing orgasms.

Horse is part of the Reapers Motorcycle Club, and when he wants something, he takes it. What he wants is Marie, but she’s not interested in becoming “property of”.

Then her brother steals from the club. Marie can save him by giving Horse what he wants—at home, in public, on his bike… If she’s a very, very good girl, she’ll get lots more of those orgasms only he can offer, and he’ll let her brother live.
Maybe.

Reaper's Property_2

Review

As a huge fan of MC romance books, I was excited to dive into Reaper’s Property, especially after having heard so many good things about this series. Joanna Wylde certainly did not disappoint, delivering a story that was raw, gritty, and incredibly intense. Reaper’s Property is pretty much everything I’d imagined from an outlaw motorcycle club and Horse is the definition of an alpha male book boyfriend. Despite their obvious differences, Horse and Marie’s connection was unexpectedly instantaneous and their story was both scorching hot and emotionally powerful. These two didn’t do anything halfway, taking on the world and each other full throttle. Their relationship was highly combustible and I worried for anyone who dare get between them. Reaper’s Property was action-packed and exhilarating. The pages of this book were filled with vivid characters and innuendo-laden dialogue, resulting in a story that was hilariously snarky and undeniably blush-inducing. There was never a dull moment with this book.

“You’re cute when you’re pissed. Kind of life a wet kitten. Gets me hard.”

Not only was Reaper’s Property well written, but the characters were obviously mindfully crafted. Joanna Wylde did a great job with Marie. The evolution of this character over the course of the story was one of the best things about this book. I loved how feisty she was; standing up to Horse in ways that sometimes had me nervous. Her emotional honesty struck me and I found myself feeling for her as she dealt with her brother’s mistakes and Horse’s inability to open up. She was a great match for Horse, able to handle his intensity with her fiery personality. Their push and pull was definitely entertaining. I’ll admit, there were moments where I could not stand Horse. He was possessive, demanding, and unapologetic in a way that was simultaneously infuriating and hot. I could however, appreciate the dominating alpha personality and how authentic it was to the MC world. Ultimately, his protective nature, deeply held sense of loyalty, and his devotion to Marie won out and his flaws and frustrating personality traits only added to the integrity of the character.

“Just remember, you ever point this at a person, you shoot it right at his heart and you shoot to kill. Never point a gun unless you’re ready to end a life.”

Reaper’s Property pulled me in from the beginning. I was incredibly intrigued by the storyline, anxious to see how things between Marie’s brother and the Reapers would play out. Since Marie was oblivious to the MC life, this was a great book for anyone just diving into this genre. The author made sure to explain each club tradition and nuance so that someone unfamiliar with the terminology and expectations could easily be able to enjoy this wild ride. As the story progressed, Joanna Wylde hit me with several twists and turns that kept me on my toes and made sure I just had to keep reading. The drama that unfolded was thrilling and even had me holding my breath a few times. I loved the dynamic Joanna created amongst the Reapers. Each character we met in the MC was unique and left me wanting more. I can’t wait for the rest of the series to hear from some of the other brothers. Reaper’s Property is an exciting and entertaining MC romance and a great start to what I’m sure will be an unforgettable series.
