Title: Worship Me
Author: Chelle Bliss
Series: Men of Inked, #7
Release Date: May 9, 2017
James Caldo needs to control everything in his life, even his wife, Izzy Gallo. But she’s headstrong and has a need to test her husband’s limits as much as he pushes hers.
When a case at ALFA Private Investigation takes a dark turn, James is forced to get Izzy involved in an undercover sting, and the assignment will test her sexual boundaries as well as the very foundation of their relationship.
Can Izzy hold her tongue long enough to keep them both safe? Or will her unwillingness to fully submit draw the eye of the very man they’re after?
Chelle Bliss dives back into the Men of Inked series with more of Izzy and James in Worship Me. This novel revisits the hilarious and heartwarming Gallo family, once again delivering all of the feels and funny moments that readers have come to expect from this loud Italian brood. I loved seeing Izzy and James settled into their marriage and raising children of their own while maintaining all of the sass and sizzle that had me falling hard for them to begin with. In addition to being chocked full of sexy interludes, dirty talk, and delicious flirtations, Worship Me maintained an authentic outlook on family life that readers could appreciate. Chelle Bliss wasn’t afraid to capture the overwhelming and exhausting aspects of being a parent, partner, and working adult, portraying daily life with as much humor and genuine emotion as possible. Chelle Bliss further explored Izzy and James’ unique relationship dynamic and I was once again captivated by their inimitable push and pull. The author brought me back under the spell of this couple’s enchanting power struggle, allowing me to revel in the satisfying surrender.
“We were the wackiest fucking bunch I knew, and if an outsider were here, they’d probably say we should all have our heads examined.”
While Worship Me definitely encapsulated the comforting familiarity of the Men of Inked series, it felt more like an ALFA PI crossover than the kind of distinctly Gallo novel I’ve come to know and love. There was quite a bit of time spent at ALFA and a much greater focus on James’ work than I would have expected. Although Chelle Bliss tried to ensure that readers who haven’t read the ALFA PI series didn’t get lost, there was certainly a benefit to knowing who all the players were ahead of time. Also, as much as I loved all the sexy fun between Izzy and James, at times those scenes significantly overshadowed the real substance and action of this storyline. It felt like a lot of build-up for such a quick resolution to the real issues and I was left feeling a bit disappointed. The Men of Inked series has been such a journey in and of itself that I just wanted more of the unexpected twists, pulse-pounding action, and heartfelt family moments that got me so hooked on the Gallos to begin with.
“There wasn’t a thing I would change. Not a moment I would alter because it wouldn’t bring me to that very second, tucked away in the office with James.”
In true Men of Inked fashion, Chelle Bliss delivers plenty of awkward and hilarious moments that made me blush and chuckle. I adored seeing the Gallo women back in action and absolutely loved their fantastically crude conversations. The sisterhood that Chelle Bliss has crafted between these ladies is probably my favorite part of Worship Me (and the series in general). We also got some great sibling moments at Inked that made me smile and reminded me how much I enjoy the relationship Izzy has with her brothers. I liked the introduction of Kat and Cypress. They had me totally fascinated and Chelle Bliss gave readers just enough of their story to leave us salivating for more. I hope we’ll be seeing them again in the future. Overall, Worship Me was a sexy look into Izzy and James’ happily ever after with more Gallo antics, lots of love, and plenty of ALFA PI intrigue. This novel was low on angst and high on sizzle, making Worship Me a quick and entertaining read for fans of this series.
If you’re a fan of Chelle Bliss, then it comes as no surprise that she can certainly write sexy and steamy! Worship Me had lots of that combined with the sass and alpha macho-ness that I’ve come to expect from her Gallo crew. There were moments that I simply couldn’t contain the grin on my face, which made me remember why I had fallen in love with the Men of Inked series in the first place.
“We were completely in sync as if we were meant to be together, like this, for eternity.”
That being said, there were a couple of things in Worship Me that left me a bit underwhelmed. Seeing as how I haven’t read the ALFA PI novels yet, there were a few moments where I felt a bit lost and it left me unable to fully connect to the story. Furthermore, there was so much build up to a couple of scenarios that my blood was pumping and my heart was racing. I was anxious to see how things would explode and come to a head. However, when those conflicts were resolved, it was done very quickly and with little fanfare. Given how big of a part they played in some of the emotional settings, I expected there to be a lot more to it. In those instances, it felt like the sex started to overshadow the story development.
“This was about her getting lost in us and forgetting everything else going on outside our bedroom.”
Honestly, the shining star of Worship Me was when all the Gallo women were together. Even in just the group text messages, Izzy and the girls were as sassy and strong-headed as ever and it made me giggle and reinforced my love of the series. I have no doubt that fans of Bliss’ writing will enjoy this newest release and be begging the author for more. If you’re looking for a quick read to escape in, then you can’t get much better than anything from the phenomenally talented Chelle Bliss!
