It’s time for the wife to play a dirty game.
Clarissa Wild delivers the next twisted, dark romance in the Indecent Games series with Dirty Wife Games. After meeting Hyun in Wicked Bride Games, I was intrigued. I wanted to know more about the innocent girl who’d been forced to play such filthy games. Hyun’s story was definitely not what I expected, but it was every bit the convoluted and mysterious tale I’ve come to expect from Clarissa Wild. Hyun and Drake’s story is an entity all it’s own – an unexpected stalker romance that will keep you on your toes and make you blush with its sizzling encounters.
“A man who desires a woman he can’t have only wants one thing… To stop her from being with someone else.”
One of the things I enjoyed most about this novel was getting to unravel Hyun. Clarissa Wild did a great job allowing the reader a closer look at this character’s upbringing and the expectations her parents had for her that shaped her personality and the decisions she made. I especially enjoyed the transformation Hyun underwent over the course of this story. As she spent time with Drake and became comfortable in her own mind and body, we got to see this flirty, fierce side of Hyun that was capable of eventually demanding the kind of life and love she deserved. I adored seeing her stand up for herself with her husband and parents and by the time the final page was turned, Hyun seemed to be a completely new woman.
“As any person in my situation, one is expected to be a victim. To act like a victim. To become the victim. In order to win.”
To be honest, this book didn’t wow me like I wish it would have. The prologue caught my attention but after that the story moved kind of slowly without much action or storyline development. Things seemed to go from one incident of stalking to the next with a few small revelations regarding Drake’s intentions and Hyun’s marriage sprinkled in. I never really connected to the characters in a significant way, nor did I experience a moment of real emotional impact until the last third or so of the novel. That’s not to say that others won’t love this story, it just wasn’t one I could completely lose myself in. Of course, once Clarissa Wild revealed her big plot twist, things took off running and I found myself absolutely devouring the last part of this book.
“We played a dangerous game, and only one of us could win.”
I really did enjoy the direction this story took. Clarissa Wild definitely knows how to take a plot and turn it on its head, surprising the readers and dialing up the heat on her characters. Near the end of Dirty Wife Games I really understood the strange pull between Hyun and Drake and I even found myself rooting for them in that slightly disturbed way I always do when it comes to dark romance. I liked seeing Max from Wicked Bride Games again. His small role seemed to bring Hyun’s story full circle. As always, Clarissa Wild’s writing is great. Filled with vibrant imagery and scorching hot interludes, Hyun and Drake’s story easily came to life from the pages of this novel. Dirty Wife Games was definitely an intriguing addition to the series and another unpredictable dark romance from Clarissa Wild!
My breathing is shallow, ragged, as I silently watch her look up at me with those doe-like eyes. She’s magnificent, so innocent … so ripe for the taking.
I don’t know if she’s ready for me … but I can’t return to where we were before.
Her eyes are skidding across the room, and then they zoom in on me. Her lips part but no sound comes out … yet.
I place a finger on my lips and shush her softly, a devious smile lingering. I whisper seductively, “Don’t make a sound. We don’t want the neighbors to hear.”
I prowl closer, approaching the foot of her bed without taking my eyes off her. I feel like an animal, raging with hormones that beg me to fuck her. But I have to take it slowly, so I don’t scare her.
But as my knees touch her toes, she pulls them back, drawing the blanket back too. I can see her sucking in a breath when I lean over and place my hands on the bed.
She watches my every move as I hover over her legs, my mouth salivating from the mere anticipation of tasting her. Her bare feet are in front of me, and I bend over to kiss the top, my fingers softly sliding up her leg. Her skin erupts into goose bumps.
I bite my lip and kiss her ankle, gazing up at her to see if she’s still looking. I want her to see everything I do… everything she makes me do.
Just as I watched her, I want her to be a spectator now.
