Becoming A Legend

Kane Kavanagh has always had one goal: being the best mixed martial arts fighter alive. With the MMA National Championships in Las Vegas fast approaching, the man they call “Killer” has no intention of letting anyone or anything get in his way. Somehow, though, a feisty opponent has slipped beneath his guard—and stolen his heart. Fiery and passionate, Nora Hannigan is harder to pin down than any rival Kane has faced in the ring. And she isn’t afraid to tell Kane that she wants nothing to do with him.

With her best friend about to marry into the Kavanagh family, Nora has been resisting Kane’s shameless attempts at flirting for months. But after their undeniable chemistry finally takes over, leading to the hottest night of Nora’s life, she’s running scared. There’s a lot about her life Kane doesn’t know, and she won’t be responsible for ending his career. Now Kane’s out to prove that he’s ready for a commitment by winning her heart—and he’s never lost a fight.

In Becoming a Legend, Sarah Robinson delivers my favorite Kavanagh Legends novel to date with Kane and Nora’s story. Undeniably sexy, surprisingly sweet and so full of feels, Becoming a Legend is the kind of story that leaves you grinning from ear to ear. From the moment we first got a taste of Kane and Nora in Saving a Legend, I knew their chemistry would be worth exploring and Sarah Robinson definitely did not disappoint. Everything about this couple was absolutely electric and the push and pull between them proved time and again to be wholly addictive. Kane’s cocky charm and Nora’s feisty independence were the perfect match, reeling me in and hooking me with ease as I devoured their witty banter, delightful flirtations and scorching encounters. Filled with plenty of heat and tons of heart, Becoming a Legend is a fantastic story of family, living your dreams, and finding the kind of love that’s always worth fighting for.

“Just because we’re not dating doesn’t make this nothing, Nora.”

Nora was the kind of heroine that you can’t help but root for. She was driven, hardworking and loyal to a fault, but her tendency to put everyone else first often put Nora at a personal disadvantage. Through her blossoming relationship with Kane she was able to let go and let him take care of her, revealing a side of Nora that was relaxed, fun loving, and secure in who she was and what she wanted out of life. I loved the way in which Sarah Robinson transformed this character over the course of the story. What Kane manages to inspire in her, Nora is able to grow on her own. As she learned to put herself first and re-examine the people in her life and the sacrifices she was willing to make for the ones she loves, I found myself in awe of her strength and connecting with this character in significant ways. Nora was sweet, sassy and incredibly smart, with a heart of gold that only made me love her that much more. She’s probably my favorite Kavanagh lady to date and I look forward to seeing more of her as the series continues.

“You’re worth it. You’re worth so much more than I can give you right now, and that just kills me.”

Kane caught me off guard completely. Whereas the man we’d met in the previous Kavanagh Legends novels was cocky, arrogant and all too familiar with the ladies, the hero that Sarah Robinson reveals to us in this book is someone altogether different. Even with all of his delicious swagger and irresistible charm intact, Kane proves himself to be incredibly perceptive, adorably thoughtful and sweetly protective throughout this novel. His heart was bigger than I ever could have imagined and Nora opened Kane up in ways that tugged on my emotions. I adored watching Kane evolve as he re-evaluated his goals and was forced to reconsider what’s truly important in life. While certainly far from perfect, Kane repeatedly demonstrated precisely how perfect he was for Nora in the most swoon-worthy of ways, easily giving Kieran and Rory a run for their money.

“That means nothing. It’s a prize belt on the wall and a good story to tell, but no one to tell it to. People are what matter, Kane.”

Becoming a Legend had a distinctive seemingly-opposites attract and reluctant-friends to lovers romance vibe that was both intriguing and incredibly entertaining. As much as I enjoyed the back and forth between Kane and Nora, there was something deeper between them from the start and it was this raw emotion and the genuine journey that followed that had me falling so hard and fast for this duo. Their inexplicable connection was heady, tangible and satisfyingly unique. Add in the excitement of Kane’s upcoming title fight and Nora’s unraveling secrets and this book was bound to captivate. One of the things I adored most about this novel was the feeling of family Sarah Robinson has so expertly cultivated with this colorful cast of characters. We got to see all of the Kavanaghs and their significant others together, creating an overall tone of comfort, security and unconditional love that carried throughout the story. Sarah Robinson’s writing is warm, witty and overflows with feeling. She serves up her best work yet with Nora and Kane’s unforgettable journey in Becoming a Legend!
