My future was about to be completely thrown off track because Della Sloane was under my skin, and I had to have her. I couldn’t ignore it anymore. . . . I’d gotten close enough to her to see deeper.
Della Sloane is not your average girl. Yearning to break free of her dark and sheltered past, and the memories of the illness that claimed her mother, Della plans a solo road trip to experience real life on her own terms. But the trip is nearly cut short in the little beach town of Rosemary when she realizes she can’t even pump her own gas—until Woods Kerrington shows up, more than willing to help out a pretty girl in need.
Woods’s family wants him to settle down with a wealthy woman in pearls, but he can’t resist this carefree girl in cutoffs passing through town. A one-night stand should have been enough, but months later, Woods can’t get the irresistible Della out of his head.
When a twist of fate brings Della back to Woods, all signs point to trouble if they don’t keep their distance. Neither is truly free, and a relationship could destroy both of them. With their hearts on the line, Della thinks the safest bet is to walk away. But Woods isn’t about to let that happen…
Abbi Glines definitely doesn’t pull any punches. Twisted Perfection is the beginning of Woods’ story and it is just as heart-wrenchingly beautiful as I’d hoped and then some. From the start, Woods and Della felt fated. Briefly brought together by chance, then reunited by what can only be described as kismet, this couple seemed to be indescribably connected. Their scorching chemistry added fuel to the fire, reeling me in from their very first encounter and ensuring that I kept furiously flipping the pages. Their sweet honesty, delightful flirtations, and electric tension was absolutely addictive and I easily found myself wholly consumed by their emotional journey. Abbi Glines has undoubtedly crafted something special with this couple and I can’t wait to see where she plans on taking them in the next book. Twisted Perfection was breathtaking, gut wrenching, and an overall rollercoaster that left me more firmly planted in Rosemary Beach than I ever could have predicted. Woods and Della have certainly stuck with me, their touching story raising the bar for the next book and the entire rest of the series.
“Being the kind of guy a girl stayed for was harder than I thought.”
I didn’t think anyone could top Rush, but Woods definitely gave him a run for his money in this novel. He is every bit the enigmatic man I knew he’d be and then some. I have absolutely adored being able to finally unravel Woods, experiencing both his desire to please his father and the drive to succeed on his own that war within him. Woods’ inner turmoil and the glimpse into his family life left me with a greater appreciation for the true depth of this character and had me falling head over heels for the kind and generous man Abbi Glines has so skillfully created. Della took me by complete surprise. The past hurts and devastating trauma that shadows this character made my heart ache, while her understanding spirit and brilliant love of life inspired hope. Della was raw and unpolished in a way that evoked so many emotions from me as we got to know her, allowing me to connect with the courageous woman that has been so perfectly exposed over the course of this book.
“In my search to find myself, I’d found so much more. I knew now why I wanted to live. I understood love. I had found it.”
As always, Abbi Glines fills the world of Rosemary Beach with her utterly intriguing secondary characters that somehow manage to steal my heart right alongside the main couple. I love that we got to know Tripp a little bit, his existence seeming to be almost legendary up until this point in the series. I am definitely ready to hear his story after getting a glimpse at this independent man. Perfectly paced and expertly plotted, Twisted Perfection is gripping from start to finish. Abbi Glines serves up the perfect balance of heartache, drama, and steam to completely captivate me while leaving enough of the story open to keep me wanting for the next book in Woods and Della’s story. Abbi’s writing continues to shine, her lyrical prose and easy dialogue bringing this story to life and conjuring up a hurricane of emotions that pierced right through me. Twisted Perfection flowed effortlessly, reminding me with each passing page exactly why I had fallen in love with Rosemary Beach and the unforgettable cast of characters who call it home.
While I love exploring and finding new authors to me, another part of me wishes that I could spend all my time falling back in love with characters that aren’t brand new. Ones that I’ve read before and adored, but have never let go of. Squeezing in a re-read of Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines felt like coming home. I forgot how much Woods & Della’s story touched me and really introduced me to a whole other side of Glines’ writing. I have to admit that while I couldn’t get enough of them the first time around, the second time was even sweeter.
“Nothing my family wanted or demanded could make me walk away from this. From her.”
For as much as I loved Rush and Blaire, there was something special about Della that hit close to home for me. Readers could easily tell that she suffered from a scarring past, something so jarring that there was no instantaneous cure. Getting into her head and glimpsing that made me so sad at times, yet it also created such a strong admiration for her. To see just how far she rose from the ashes of her past was nothing short of astounding and it really showed how strong and independent she was. It helped me to understand how Woods could fall for her so quickly because she really was different in all the important ways. I also loved the complexity that Glines created in Woods’ character. He was ruled by obligation, but had the extraordinary capability of seeing the bigger picture. His growth was done in the best of ways and I can’t wait to see how that continues in the next book of their story.
“Never throw a Kerrington a challenge like that one. We will go above and beyond.”
Abbi Glines has created such a fantastic getaway with the Rosemary Beach series. She forces readers to get interested in all the characters involved, and then makes their stories even better than you could have expected. Twisted Perfection is all about strength and growth and I’m anxious to revisit the conclusion in the next book. Even though I know how their story ends, I still get butterflies in my stomach and a heart-racing feeling as I read through Della and Woods falling in love. This book screams everything that the New Adult genre is, and it has definitely reminded me why I fell in love with Abbi’s writing in the first place!
