When Dani’s sheltered life is turned upside down by her mother’s secrets, she finds protection with her estranged outlaw father. Against all warnings, she falls for bad boy biker, Shadow. He is beast and beauty sealed in a leather cut with a gun holster. Can Dani learn to live within the Club rules? Is she more like her father than she could imagine?
Shadow has grown up among drug addicts, whores and murderers. The only family he’s ever trusted has been the Devil’s Dust motorcycle club. He will do anything for a brother; even kill. In fact, killing is so easy, he’s made a career of it. His one regret is not being able to kill his own worthless mother. When Dani shows up with her provocative temper and innocent charm, Shadow begins to question his violent lifestyle. But can he trust her with his demons?
Will Dani and Shadow let family ties destroy them?
What Doesn’t Destroy Us is an intriguing start to what promises to be a thrilling MC Romance series! Having never read anything by M.N. Forgy before, I was immediately caught up in her easy writing style and delightfully complicated characters. Shadow and Dani, while initially opposites, proved to be an exciting match and I found myself enjoying the push and pull between them as Dani discovered her own voice and Shadow fought to control his alpha personality and allow her to grow. Not only was this book full of flirtatious banter and undeniable sexual tension, but Dani and Shadow also seemed to share an unmistakable connection that was irresistible and heady. M.N. Forgy brought the Devil’s Dust MC to life with her vibrant imagery and palpable feelings, effortlessly transporting me into her gritty and unforgiving MC world and leaving me desperate for more.
“I don’t know what this is; if this is even anything to put a label on, but I would be willing to put my life on the line to find out where it goes.”
Dani definitely took me by surprise. She was so quite, controlled, and meek when we first met her, but as she finds her home amongst the Devil’s Dust, a snarky, feisty woman begins to take shape and I found myself enjoying the development of her character more and more. Considering the events at the end of this book, I can only imagine what will unleash next from this decidedly strong and loyal personality. Shadow is all sorts of alpha biker hotness. His filthy mouth and possessive and protective nature had me swooning. I would have liked to see a bit more emotional development with this character as I have yet to see much depth from him. I hope in the next book we’ll get to know Shadow more and have an opportunity to explore the real substance of his and Dani’s relationship beyond their unexpected connection and obvious chemistry.
“Our eyes of blazing blue and venomous green meet; souls of abuse and torment meeting in a ring of fire.”
I really enjoyed the storyline that M.N. Forgy has begun with this book. From the very first page she had me hooked, wondering what was happening and determined to unravel the truth about Dani, her parents, and the events leading her to the doorstep of the Devil’s Dust MC. I adored the colorful secondary characters that M.N. Forgy created to complete Dani and Shadow’s journey. So many of them already have me anxious to hear their stories and I can’t wait to see how their roles within the overall storyline will develop throughout the rest of the series. I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as I read this novel, totally caught up in the thrill and drama of the MC world and the complicated relationships amongst the characters. What Doesn’t Destroy Us left me reeling with a cliffhanger that had me immediately jumping into the next book. I look forward to seeing what M.N. Forgy has in store next with Dani, Shadow, and the rest of the Devil’s Dust MC.
