Author: Elisabeth Grace
Series: Maine Attraction #1
Release Date: August 31, 2015
Jackie Davenport will try anything once, especially in the bedroom. Anything except falling in love. She lives a carefree existence packed full of fun, but free from emotional entanglements and that’s just how she wants to keep it. When she meets the new police officer in town, she’s unable to deny the connection between them. His over confidence and bullish ways grate on her…still she can’t help but find herself falling into his bed AND falling for him.
Jamie McTavish is man enough to admit that he probably didn’t make the best first impression when he met the 911 Operator. That doesn’t mean there isn’t still sizzling sexual tension between them. He’s a man of action and he’s not content to sit on the sidelines until Jackie works out her issues. But trying to tame this tiger might be too big of a challenge for even him.
Indecision is definitely something magical. Elisabeth Grace has written a beautiful story of healing and inevitable love. Jackie and Jamie’s journey is sweet, sexy, fun, and fueled by emotion. Whether their chemistry is setting the world around them on fire or they’re learning to be vulnerable with one another, each and every part of this story resonated deeply with me. I was caught up in their whirlwind romance, feeling it move through me as I read. This story was stunning in its simplicity, exploring the fears and insecurities that make accepting real love a challenge. Elisabeth Grace’s writing was exquisite, enchanting me right from the start and holding me captive until the very last page. Indecision is one of those stories that you don’t just read, but rather experience in a very visceral way. Elisabeth writes with incredible talent, especially considering the short length of this book. She manages to pace the story and execute the plot in a manner, which avoided that cheesy feeling of insta-love. By masterfully developing her characters and hitting her mark with thoughtful prose, Elisabeth Grace had delivered a true gem with Indecision.
“We both stayed there, gazing at each other. For seconds or minutes, I didn’t know, but it was long enough to know that I was in deep shit because whether I had wanted it to happen or not, I was feeling something for Jamie – something deep and real.”
Having met Jackie and Jamie in Indiscretion, I was thrilled to hear that we’d be getting to hear their story. I really enjoyed both characters, so the thought of unraveling them was exciting. Elisabeth Grace has once again blown me away with her ability to create characters that are incredibly real and absolutely loveable. Jackie was so much more than I expected. This character was all heart and soul, overflowing with complex emotions and amusing stubbornness. I connected with Jackie immediately, adoring her fierce independence and playful sarcasm. Jamie, on the other hand, exuded a quiet strength that was utterly captivating. I loved the layers Elisabeth Grace built into this character, his serious and protective demeanor harboring both a kind, gentle soul and a scorching, passionate spirit. I could not get enough of Jamie, easily considering him to be book boyfriend perfection! As Elisabeth developed these characters throughout the book, their initial lust and obvious connection deepened until a mere glance between them triggered combustion, ensuring that the emotional weight of this story was balanced with some deliciously steamy moments.
“I’d been this way almost as long as I could remember… held onto that mantra, grabbing hold of it like it was a life preserver and I was lost in the open sea.”
I have to applaud Elisabeth Grace for the perfect simplicity of this storyline. Novellas often miss their mark when they throw in more outside issues than can be satisfactorily resolved in so few pages. Indecision wasn’t wrought with drama, old flames, or countless dirty secrets. This story was Jackie and Jamie’s through and through. Their story was focused, self-reflective, and a true journey of personal growth and healing. The couple had plenty to overcome without the unnecessary and overdramatic extras, keeping me consumed by the story and leaving me feeling completely satisfied. Indecision stirred up some intense emotions. Jackie, in particular, was written with some very real fears that she had to confront in order to move forward. Elisabeth Grace carefully crafted Jackie’s vulnerability, really hitting home her experiences and allowing the reader to connect with the character on a much deeper level. While this book could have easily carried a tone of melancholy, Jackie and Jamie’s mutual stubbornness, undeniable sexual tension, and breathtaking moments of shared vulnerability gave Indecision an overall lightness that kept me fully invested in their happily ever after. This story had me frustrated, made me laugh, got me blushing, generated some tears, and filled my heart with all the feels you’d hope to find in a love story. Indecision is another fantastic book from this truly talented author.
