Author: Elizabeth Lee
Series: Wild Riders #1
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Reid Travers knows how to win. Becoming Motocross royalty was always the plan, and he was willing to make sacrifices along the way to reach his goal. Sacrifices he thought he could live with until he returned to the small town where he grew up and learned to ride, and, more importantly, where he fell in love.
When fate sends Nora Bennett back into his life, he takes one look at her and realizes that he made a huge mistake breaking up with her five years ago. Now, he’ll do whatever it takes to win her back. As Reid sets out to earn her forgiveness and convince her that the guy she’s dating is not the one for her, Nora finds herself torn between what her head is telling her and what her heart wants.
It’s a race he never expected to be in, for a girl he can’t stand to lose again.
Throttled is officially my new favorite book from this amazing author! Elizabeth Lee has truly outdone herself, delivering a second-chance romance that readers will feel all the way through. Nora and Reid’s journey was one of redemption and forgiveness. Their palpable connection, witty musings, explosive passion, and raw emotion made this story absolutely sparkle. The fire that burns between this couple is scorching, giving this love story a sense of inevitability, a feeling of being fated for something epic. Elizabeth Lee hooked me from the start and kept me under her spell until I’d absolutely devoured this novel. Everything about this book blew me away. The character development, unexpected plot twists, pacing, and dialogue were all spot on, demonstrating Elizabeth’s incredible talent as a writer and storyteller. I wanted to start over the moment I finished reading, already missing being a part of Nora and Reid’s world.
“That was the thing about history – it was meant to stay in the past. Unfortunately, mine had shown up all shiny and sinfully tempting right here in the present.”
I fell for Reid hard and fast. His drive, passion, and loyalty to his family made him so much more than just a motocross hottie who could easily have any woman he wanted. I loved how Elizabeth Lee wrote this character to be unexpected. I anticipated a playboy with a hardened heart, but as this character came to life on the pages, we got to discover the beautiful soul hiding beneath those inked muscles. Reid had depth along with his talent, fame, and good looks and that gave me all sorts of feels. The growth we see in Nora was just as satisfying. Having slowly unraveled this polished, serious woman, Elizabeth Lee revealed a ferocity that is utterly captivating. I loved watching Nora transform into someone vibrant and full of life. When Reid and Nora finally bared their souls to one another, the unleashed emotions were raw, gritty, and overwhelming, keeping me wholly invested in their happily ever after.
“There was a reason I’d held onto my anger all this time. Anger was safe. Heartbreak was not. Heartbreak was deadly.”
As a second-chance romance, Elizabeth Lee was charged with the task of not only making us fall in love with her characters in the present, but also enabling a deep understanding of their relationship in the past. I loved the way she intertwined Nora and Reid’s complicated history with their even more complicated present. As they moved forward, expertly placed recollections and conversations connected the dots, filling in the parts of their story necessary to truly experience the emotional weight of their journey. Elizabeth Lee wrote this book with so much heart. I was giddy at the sparks flying between our couple and frustrated at the time they had lost. My heart broke when Nora shared the truth about her life after Reid and it pieced back together with each tender moment of honesty shared between them. Elizabeth Lee wrote Nora and Reid’s journey with an undeniable intensity that was absolutely mesmerizing. Throttled is a must read and I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Reid Travers had grown up. He had always been attractive, but time and professional racing had done something to his features and body that he should have thanked the good Lord every day for. His jawline and nose seemed more chiseled. His eyes wiser and brighter. Well-worn jeans hung around his hips, the waistband sitting just below a set of abs that had me thinking all kinds of things—none of which had anything to do with a real estate transaction. While my stomach was a knot of nervousness, below that something inside of me was coiling so tightly that the possibility of shooting straight into the sky seemed feasible. Especially if he kept looking at me the way he was. His brown eyes were locked on mine and I was helpless to look away. “Nora Bennett,” he said as he closed the distance between us. He ran his hand down his jawline, the days’ worth of stubble only adding to his new all-grown-up appeal. “How are you?”
“Fine,” I answered softly as he reached out. The second his hand touched my arm, I knew I was in trouble—his rough, calloused fingertips met my smooth skin and it was like striking a match.

When I’m not writing or playing the part of wife and mom, you can find me dancing back-up for Beyonce, singing back-up for Miranda, or sunning myself on the beach with a drink in hand. Here’s the thing about being born and raised in a small town–you have a very vivid imagination! Now, I channel it all to create stories where the girl always ends up with the right guy, first kisses are magical, and a happy ending is just that!
