Title – Strong Enough
Author – M. Leighton
Publication Date – August 4, 2015
Series – Tall, Dark, and Dangerous #1

Is she strong enough to trust the most dangerous man she’s ever met? And is he strong enough to let her?

How would I describe myself? Well, I’m Muse Harper. I’m a twenty-something painter who loves red wine, quirky movies, and men with a fatal flaw. But that was before I met Jasper King. He became my fatal flaw. Eight months ago, I had a choice to make—abandon everything I’ve ever known to protect my family, or stay and risk someone getting hurt. I chose the former. My plan was working just fine until I found out my father had gone missing.

That’s when I met Jasper. A bounty hunter with the eyes of a tiger and the nose of a bloodhound, he was supposed to help me find my father. What I didn’t know was that meeting him was no accident. Hunting people isn’t all that Jasper does. And helping me was only part of his plan. I just wish I’d found out sooner, before my heart got involved. But even then, I don’t know if I’d have done things differently.

Now, I have another choice to make—trust the man that I’m falling in love with and hope that he’ll do the right thing, or run as far away from him as I can get.

Bs Review

M. Leighton has written another addictive novel that will keep you enthralled from start to finish. Strong Enough is Muse and Jasper’s story and a suspense-filled, emotional rollercoaster that you never want to get off of. I went into this story with absolutely no idea what to expect, so I was thrilled to find the sexy, mysterious, gut-wrenching adventure that is Strong Enough. M. Leighton’s writing is enchanting, pulling you into this story and refusing to let you go until it’s over. She knew just when to get my heart racing and when to slow things down so I could process and feel. Her characters are complex and broken and beautiful, somehow managing to be unique and yet completely relatable. Muse and Jasper have an instant connection that is primal and physical, the heat between them practically radiating off the pages. As M. Leighton cultivates their emotional bond, things between this couple become utterly explosive, adding a steam factor to this book that is off the charts.

“I’ve never met someone more stimulating and handsome and intriguing than Jasper King. I’ve never met someone who makes me want to ask so many questions. And I’ve never met someone who makes me feel like I’ll never get any of the answers.”

Jasper is a man of very few words, preferring his actions, strength, and unparalleled skills to do the talking for him. From the start my heart was crushed for him. His history was devastating, giving ample reason for his closed-off nature. My feelings for him were much like Muse’s; I’d find myself simultaneously frustrated by his inability to allow himself to connect and dizzy with the physical power he commanded. As M. Leighton exposed this character to us over the course of the story, the growth we see in him and the changes in his demeanor were stunning. As a character, Muse was limited by her knowledge of the things happening in her life. So as she began to learn the truth, she transformed into a pillar of strength, loyalty, and ferocity that I absolutely adored. Her stubbornness and the way in which she refused to be left in the dark anymore made me grin on several occasions as she put the men of this story in their place.

“It’s enough when you can’t bear the thought of life without that person. It’s enough when you can’t let them go, or when you’d cross an ocean just to be with them. Anything less than that is just… less. It isn’t enough.”

While each book in this new series will focus on a different couple, the storyline that threads them together is overarching, allowing the reader some measure of emotional satisfaction but dangling unanswered questions that ensure you’ll be back for the new book. I loved the way M. Leighton so intricately designed this plot, weaving lies and secrets together so that as they unraveled there was always some degree of surprise. When I wasn’t busy falling hard for Jasper and getting riled up on Muse’s behalf, Strong Enough kept me guessing. This book had both my heart and my head reeling and I loved the feeling of being completely absorbed in the story. The little bit we got of Rogan and Tag has me incredibly curious about these two Tall, Dark, and Dangerous men and I’m more than ready to hear their stories next. Strong Enough proved to be a fantastic beginning to this new series, and M. Leighton’s writing promises that she has so much more in store for us!

Cs Review

I was so excited to find out that M. Leighton would be delivering another suspenseful, sexy trilogy to her readers when she announced Tall, Dark, and Dangerous! She captivated me with Cash Davenport in the Bad Boys series and I’ve been addicted to her writing ever since. Strong Enough is suspense, turmoil, romance, and just about everything in between. I loved getting lost in these pages with Muse and Jasper – their story is one you won’t want to miss!

“I never knew I had an Achilles heel. Because I never knew Muse. Until now.”

Not that this has anything to really do with the story, but I adored the name Muse that Leighton used. If ever a character could live up to his/her name, this heroine would be it. She was an inspiration for those lives she touched, a beautiful soul who everyone wanted to protect. She was docile, yet ferocious and fierce in her love. In so many ways, she’s a woman I want to be friends with and learn from. Jasper was the perfect counterpart for her personality. He was so cold and callous, until he caught glimpses of her light. However, he never lost his edge and was still protective and alpha male to the core. Together, these two just worked for me in the ways that they complemented each other. Gahh! I’m already ready to have more of these two!

“I wonder if I’ll ever find my happy ending, my Dirty Dancing Johnny, my Sixteen Candles moment. My Officer and a Gentleman exit.”

Strong Enough was full of so many twists that I found myself wanting to dig deeper and deeper. I wanted to get utterly lost in the words on the page so that I could figure out the answers. Leighton sure knows how to keep this reader on her toes because I didn’t see ninety percent of the events coming. She has such a talent in giving readers the perfect mix of different emotions. The way that she intertwines the intrigue with the romance, the journey, and giving you answers is done so flawlessly. As a reader, I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next for this crew. Though the next book will feature a different character we were introduced to, I have no doubt that Leighton will make me love it just the same!
