Author: Kerry Heavens
Series: Not Your Average British Romance #1
Release Date: May 5, 2015
@TheSpencerRyan exudes confidence,
I mean, have you seen him???
His dark good looks and tattooed muscled perfection are too much.
He’s hot. Lickably hot.
And he has a way with words that leaves me breathless.
But cocky doesn’t even cover it,
this guy is so arrogant you have to fight back.
But God he’s so lickable!
The thing is though,
he looks like sex but he’ll taste like jackass.
@OMGJazzyP is a sexy, annoying ball of rage in fuck-me heels
and she hates me.
Although her nipples would tend to disagree.
It’s a deadly combination.
She’s a princess.
And when I say princess, I mean intolerable, spoiled brat with a tiara.
Sure she’s got that curvaceous goddess thing going on,
but that mouth of hers…
God it needs something in it to shut it up.
This is not your average British romance.
It’s a tale of high heels, hot tattooed bad boys and
sex oranges, all wrapped up in a coating of chocolate.
It’s ‘love’ in a social media world,
where not everyone is who they seem
and where some people’s bios should carry a warning.
Let me just start by saying that Spencer is one of the best romantic comedies I’ve come across in a very long time. Spencer (the book) is epically fun, sizzling hot, perfectly quirky, and absolutely hilarious. Spencer (the man) is the epitome of book boyfriend perfection with his flawless inked body, a cocky and possessive demeanor, and his unabashedly filthy mouth. It’s safe to say that I’m completely addicted to Spencer Ryan. Kerry Heavens has written a comedic masterpiece that had me laughing out loud and shaking my head at the characters’ ridiculous shenanigans. The colorful characters, witty banter, and amusing sarcasm that dripped off the pages had me devouring this story in one sitting. I couldn’t put this book down, unapologetically enchanted by the fantastic world Kerry Heavens has written here. Spencer is an absolute MUST read for anyone who can appreciate a sense of humor that’s deliciously dirty and a hero who’s more cocky alpha than Superman.
“I feel like I’m living in the Twilight Zone. Except it’s just this bit right here,” I draw an invisible square in the air around my bits. “This is the zone where nothing makes sense. It’s the Spencer Zone!”
As far as characters go, Jazz and Spencer are unforgettable. Jazz is the kind of woman you either want to be or want to be best friends with. She’s a fiery, confident, intelligent woman with a passion for chocolate, badass heels, and sexy men with dirty mouths. I loved the strength and confidence she exuded and enjoyed watching Spencer shake her world up. She was truly a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Spencer, and watching their push and pull was deeply satisfying. As much as they seemed to hate each other, they lusted after one another in equal measure. Kerry Heavens wrote a chemistry between these two that was absolutely combustible. This story is five alarm fire HOT so you might want to keep a fan around while reading. Spencer’s dual personality had me riding the emotional rollercoaster while his two sides battled it out over Jazz. He was clearly conflicted when it came to her and that struggle endeared him to me even when I wanted to slap him across his gorgeous face. Spencer’s transformation over the course of the story gave me all the feels, earning him a spot on my list of favorite book boyfriends.
“She takes my breath away. I’ve spent so long dealing with what happens to me when I let myself feel, that now I can’t remember how to tell someone what they mean to me.”
This story was pure genius, expertly crafted and hilariously scripted to keep you guessing. The brilliant characters and their twisted relationships made Spencer incredibly intriguing as secrets of the past unravel and lies are exposed. The secondary characters made this story whole and I’m dying to see more of Mags and Will in the future. There was an underlying current of genuine emotion that tugged on my heart, creating an unexpected connection with Jazz and Spencer. While the tone of the story was light and fun, it was grounded in the insecurities and vulnerabilities of the characters. Kerry Heavens also managed to capture the madness of the social media world perfectly with this book. I loved the integration of tweets, personal messages, and the overabundance of selfies; it gave the story a social relevancy and relatability that sucked me in and hooked me. Spencer is a true romantic comedy gem that I will definitely re-read whenever I need a good laugh. Kerry Heavens has made me a fan with this book and I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next!
