Title – His Only Wife
Author – Melissa Brown
Publication Date – March 28, 2015
Series – The Compound, #1.5
I didn’t think I’d ever want to devote my life to someone. That is, until Brin.
I was twenty-six years old the day she entered my life, just when I’d given up hope, just when I’d given up completely on having any shred of happiness in my pathetic excuse for a life. After years of indecision, self destruction and soul-searching, she found me.
Brinley challenged everything I thought I knew. She proved that goodness could still come from that hellish compound. Goodness, bravery and love. She changed everything the moment she knocked on the door of my apartment, acting as brave as a lion, even though she was shaking like a terrified mouse stuck in my trap.
And now, three years later, I want her as my wife. My only wife. Till death do us part.
And I’ve never wanted anything more.
Ahh! From the moment I finished Wife Number Seven by Melissa Brown, I have wanted nothing but more, more, and more! Brin and Porter were two characters that have burrowed their way under my skin and while their ending was satisfactory, His Only Wife made it perfect.
“And now, three years later, I’ve never wanted anything more than I want her as my wife.”
There is something about the polygamist culture that absolutely fascinates me, these characters and their unique circumstances have been on my mind since I was introduced to them in Wife Number Seven. I loved getting to see how they were dealing with the consequences, both good and bad, of Brin leaving the Compound. What the story provided ended up being everything I needed and more. It gave me the complications and the heartfelt times; the questions of indecision and also of desire. It delivered the happily ever after, but the realistic version.
“Till death do us part. Just us. My only wife.”
If you fell in love with Wife Number Seven, I highly suggest you take a dive into His Only Wife to see how these characters are dealing with the effects of their new lives. If you haven’t started Wife Number Seven yet, I’m pretty much urging you to dig into one of my top reads of 2014. These books have romance, heartfelt emotions, and an intriguing storyline that will leave you unable to put them down!
