We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend…
Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)
Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.
Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.
Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve …
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…
It’s official. Carter has stolen my heart. I loved every minute of this fun and sexy story. I just couldn’t stop reading! There were so many things I adored about this book, including that the whole story is set to a Taylor Swift soundtrack. What screams new adult love better than T. Swift? Absolutely nothing. Whitney G. continues to impress me with her effortless and fluid writing style. Her words never feel forced or contrived; they seem to just happen organically, allowing me to be completely consumed by the characters’ stories. Whitney manages to construct warring emotions and complicated situations with just her words and it continually leaves me breathless.
The dynamic between Arizona and Carter was incredibly unique and definitely entertaining. Their love and devotion to each other as best friends is absolute, with an underlying current of sexual tension that threatens to take down anything standing in their way. The deep-seated friendship between these two lays an unshakeable foundation upon which to build their relationship. Their struggle to balance the importance of their friendship with their ever-evolving feelings makes for one hell of a plot as unexpected twists kept me guessing, ultimately delivering incredible character growth on both sides. Both Arizona and Carter have distinct and vibrant voices that will leave you feeling enchanted.
Sincerely, Carter is hilarious, overflowing with sarcasm, and teeming with emotion. No matter how light this story appeared at first, by the end I had definitely been affected. The email exchanges and letters laced throughout the story reveal Carter and Arizona as we’ve yet to know them before. Whitney G. did a great job in weaving their past throughout the book in order to give the reader total understanding of what the stakes are and exactly how much feeling is sizzling between them. Whitney G. easily swept me away into Carter and Arizona’s world with her fresh and addictive writing. There is a simplicity and authenticity to her writing that makes you feel like you’re living her words, as if you know her characters personally, resulting in an unparalleled experience for the reader. Sincerely, Carter is a sweet, steamy, and funny breath of fresh air!
