What if your soul is so intertwined with someone else’s that it’s impossible to imagine yourself without them?
Blake McIntyre and Liane Kelly’s families have spent their vacations together on Sanibel Island their entire lives, and the two have always been the best of friends. But as they get ready to go to college, they admit that friendship isn’t enough for them anymore and spend a whirlwind two weeks daring to dream of their future together.
But building sandcastles and lazy beach walks filled with moonlight kisses isn’t the same as real life, and soon they are faced with a new reality. Can their hope of forever survive past their summer, or does fate have its own twisted plan?
Twisted Souls is the perfect name for this book. This story left me utterly speechless, emotionally devastated, and absolutely heartbroken. Even knowing that the second book is in the works, I have a hard time wrapping my head around this one. It was such an incredible ride and I know I’ll be feeling the effects of this book for a while. L.L. Collins has outdone herself with Twisted Souls. She has created characters so full of life that I couldn’t help but find myself completely invested in their happily ever afters. The journey that has only just begun is fraught with the unexpected intervention of fate and the devious handiwork of young adults, resulting in a world that is in constant flux. This gut-wrenching journey made me smile and fall in love before turning around and stealing my breath and making me cry. It was truly the complete package.
“I want to be your everything, Liane Kelly. It started for me over four years ago, and has only gotten stronger since. When I see you, it’s like my life is complete and everything is right in the world. You put my world back on its axis, Li.”
I am addicted to Blake and Li! Liane and Blake have a friendship that runs true and deep creating a love that is simply haunting. Their connection was palpable in every aspect of this book, even when the scene had nothing to do with the two of them. I quickly became obsessed with Blake and Li and I was invested in them and their complicated relationship absolutely. Ronan on the other hand had me fuming. The moments where I felt sympathy for him were quickly squashed by his obnoxious behavior and the nuances of his personality that just absolutely infuriated me. I have to give L.L. Collins credit for making me feel such intense dislike for a character. I could imagine Liane’s confusion at the situation she found herself in and the warring emotions that must have been incredibly overwhelming.
“You deserve someone who lives and breathes for you and you alone.”
The storyline is absolutely gripping. Once I got started I couldn’t put it down. I had to know where all the twists and turns were leading. To be honest, I definitely couldn’t have called how things were going to leave off at the end of Twisted Souls. The pacing of this book was spot on, leading me through the moments of calm and allowing me to appreciate the evolving relationships before throwing me headfirst into the fire and stirring up my emotions. I knew this would not be the end of Liane’s story so I didn’t expect a HEA, but what the hell? L.L. Collins left me stunned by the ending to this book and I’m dying to get my hands on the next part of this story. I just know she’s going to wreck me all over again. If you adore angsty love stories and unexpected journeys then Twisted Souls is definitely the book for you!
