Review

Two Roads was a much needed respite from the chaos of this story. Up until now, the Gypsy Brothers series has been a constant onslaught of action and suspense, pulling me along this dark and twisted journey. Two Roads, however, is an emotional look into Jason and Juliette. Their lives have changed so much since Juliette came back into Jason’s world and they’ve barely had a second to breathe. Lili St. Germain gives these two the opportunity to just feel in this book and the emotions that ran through them broke my heart.

“I’ve never been afraid of drowning before, but right now, I’m terrified. Drowning in this ship. Drowning in lies and in blood. Drowning in my own treacherous deceit.”

This book is devastating in an entirely different way than the rest of the series thus far. The pain Juliette and Jason experience is deeply personal, life altering, and soul shattering. For once their angst isn’t soothed by feelings of vengeance, it is raw and powerful and absolutely outside of their control. Lili St. Germain really tugged on my heart with this one. The short-lived happiness of our main characters proves to be merely the calm before the storm and Lili doesn’t hesitate to let us become completely swallowed by it.

“Maybe everything will finally be all right, at least our screwed-up version of all right. We can get through anything. Our love survived beyond death, so we can survive this.”

I love how Lili St. Germain continues to grow and nurture these characters as their story continues to unfold. Each and every addition to this series has matured Juliette and Jason, giving readers an intense look into the characters’ personal growth. In true Gypsy Brothers fashion, once you think you can see where this story is headed, Lili comes out of nowhere with a new twist to the chaos. I’m incredibly intrigued by the events that unfolded near the end of this book, keeping me desperately waiting for the final installment in this series. Lili St. Germain has once again pulled me into this addicting story, connecting me to the characters and making me feel every horrific encounter and breathtakingly beautiful moment of this journey. Bring on One Love!!
