Title: You and Everything After
Author: Ginger Scott
Series: Falling #2
Release Date: December 5, 2014
I’m that teenaged girl who has MS. You haven’t met me, but you’ve seen me around. You probably know my sister. We’re twins, and she’s the pretty one. Maybe you’ve heard about my reputation, how much I like to hook up at parties—how easy it is to get me in bed, get what you want, and forget about me after.
Forget what you think you know. I’m leaving that girl behind.
College is all about new beginnings. So from now on—I’m just Cass. And the rest…it isn’t written yet. And no one else gets to write my story for me.
“Tyson Preeter doesn’t do can’t.”
That’s exactly what I want people to think when they see me. I am strong, invincible, confident, intelligent—arrogant. I’m the man who always finds a way around, over and through—until there’s nothing left. Since losing my ability to walk six years ago, I’ve relearned life. I don’t need sympathy. I don’t want charity. And I don’t do love.
It’s better this way, saves my disappointments for me, and me alone, and it saves my strength for everything I want.
But Cass Owens is about to wreck everything. She’s about to steal all of my strength away from me, because she needs it more. She’s about to break all of my rules, and break down all of my walls. She’s about to own me…completely.
And I’m about to let her.
You and Everything After made me absolutely giddy. Ty and Cass’ story is beautiful, genuine, and one-of-a-kind. We first met these two in This is Falling, Nate and Rowe’s book. They seemed to have an indescribable connection, even then. Reading their story, my heart soared as the relationship between them developed. Ginger Scott has created such a fantastic tale of love, and friendship, and feeling worthy that I couldn’t help but find myself completely consumed by Tyson and Cassidy. I finished this book in one sitting, finding myself unable to walk away from the heartache and absolute bliss that colored the pages of You and Everything After.
“Sometimes, we meet people that set our shit right. And you were like a bullet. You pierced straight… right about here.”
Tyson and Cassidy are some of the most authentic characters I’ve come across in a while. Ginger Scott has really outdone herself with these two. Both of them have such complicated pasts, tinged with sadness and regret that could easily have pulled them into a dark place. Instead, they are both such bright personalities, full of life and possibility. Their vividness serves to deepen those moments when they were so undoubtedly human, pulled under by their circumstances for a brief moment before struggling to break the surface once again. Ginger Scott takes Ty and Cass through transformations that are simply breathtaking. The character growth she has orchestrated is moving and totally perfect for this couple.
“Goddamned love. It’s ruining football.”
You and Everything After happens concurrently with This is Falling. I loved getting to see the story from Ty and Cass’ points of view. This novel was the perfect companion to the first, rounding out the story and giving depth and weight to all of their personal journeys. The dialogue is witty and perfectly portrays Ty and Cass’ personalities. Their shenanigans had me grinning, laughing, and remembering what it feels like to just let go and enjoy being alive. From start to finish, their story was also an emotional rollercoaster. Their insecurities, faults, and moments of weakness tugged on my heartstrings. I want to hug Ginger Scott for her treatment of Cass and Ty’s health issues and physical limitations. She did great justice to these two seriously life-changing diagnoses, showing them the attention they deserved with complete grace and respect.
“I worry because everyone else in my life thinks I now have limits. Ty is the first person who, so far, doesn’t set them for me.”
This book stole my heart quickly. Ginger Scott’s skilled writing and inimitable ability to get her readers lost in the emotions of her characters constantly shines. With each book, her love for her characters and her connection to their stories becomes more and more evident, pulling me in and keeping me coming back for more. I loved getting to know Paige a little bit better in this book. After seeing her vulnerability, I have to say, I am beyond excited to read her story next. You and Everything After is real, heartfelt, unexpected, raw, and heart wrenching. I fell hard for Ty and Cass and am securely under their spell. This book is a definite can’t miss.
