The infamous serial killer, known as the Photographer, is gone, but this time he has taken someone with him. Even though everyone finally knows his identity, he is still two steps ahead of them.
Someone is dead. Someone is missing. Kate Jackson is one of those two.
Derrick Kane finds himself teaming up with Annie, Kate’s younger sister, in a desperate search for any clues that could lead them to the answers they need.
Little did they realize that they would find a lot more than they had bargained for.
Every dirty secret from the past comes to light, and they are faced with the ultimate test of true love, and true heartbreak.
When an innocent life is on the line, the cost of justice could be more than love can afford.
Not everyone makes it to the end of their love story.
**Please note that there is no cliffhanger at the end of this series and everything is fully wrapped up. This series is loosely based on a true story.**

After the release of Tainted Pictures, I think readers everywhere were on pins and needles awaiting the final piece of The Photographer Trilogy. With the release of Untainted I am happy to say that all questions were answered and readers finally got some resolution to all the happenings in the trilogy. It was a wonderful ending to Kate and Derrick’s story, though I will admit that I am sad to say goodbye to these characters.
When the second book finished, we were all left with a massive cliffhanger of who would be the character to die. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long in Untainted to receive our answer, though I don’t know that I would call it a surprise. We are immediately thrown into this fast speed, high intensity environment with a loved one missing and a race to the clock to find Kate before she can be further harmed by the Photographer. Derrick and Annie are left to piece together clues, with Detective Snow not far behind.
We have come to know Kate to be quite a strong and protective female lead. Untainted paints a different picture, as we get to see a much more vulnerable side to her. She exhibits fear and uncertainty through much of the book which was fascinating to me because even in those instances, she was flashes of strength and being the spitfire we have come to expect. I also kind of fell even harder for Derrick. He knew that he messed up and was hit with the realization that he wanted to do whatever he could to fix things. He became so diligent and determined to save his family. If there was one thing I had to pick as my favorite thing about this book, it would be the message of family. Kate and Annie are sisters who would do anything for each other. They love one another and protect one another, and it was a beautiful dynamic to see played out.
Overall, I was really impressed with Untainted. One of the things that confused me a little was the usage of Kate and Katie. The term of endearment wasn’t introduced in earlier books (that I remember) and the explanation was only touched upon in the Epilogue, so it left me confused as to whether it was a typo or not – until I got to the end of the book. There were also some grammatical errors, but overall, I could see tremendous growth in Sarah’s writing style over the course of each book in The Photographer Trilogy. It was a pleasure being on this journey and watching how she became more refined in her writing. It may be the end, but Untainted is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat and second guessing what will happen next. It’s an emotional and at times a devastatingly heartbreaking story, but if you’re looking for a thriller that will take you for a suspenseful ride, this set is one to try!
