Then there were Six Brothers…….
I have lied.
I have cheated.
I have given my body and my life to the man who destroyed my family and left me for dead.
I have killed, I have sinned, and worst of all, I have enjoyed the misery of others.
I have licked the salty tears of a father mourning his firstborn son, and nothing has ever tasted so sweet.
I have died, and I have been resurrected, a phoenix from the ashes.
I know I’m going to hell. I’ll burn in the fiery pits alongside Dornan and his sons for the things I’ve done, and for the things I’m about to do.
But I don’t care. It will be worth every lick of the devil’s flames on my guilty flesh to destroy Dornan Ross.
One down. Six to go.
With Sammi’s revenge plan officially in motion, the intensity of this story jumps up several notches. While Sammi bathes in her success, Dornan’s fire has been lit. He is out for blood and he is downright scary. Enjoying his misery, Sammi gets a little cocky and finds herself facing a harsh reminder of just what Dornan Ross is capable of. To be honest, I’m a little bit terrified (in a totally addictive way) of the things Lili St. Germain has running around her mind. This novella is dark, twisted and absolutely enthralling. Every horrific moment of this story held me captive and kept me turning pages until it was over and I was desperate for the next book.
The characters really evolved in this novella, learning important lessons and beginning to define their relationships. Sammi learns that her deception doesn’t come without a cost and that the innocent people she pulls into her web of lies are constantly in danger. Dornan continues to surprise me with his depraved behavior and his caveman attitude. Just when I think he can’t get any worse, he proves me wrong. Jase and Sammi’s relationship also starts to change, as the inevitable connection between them starts to surface. So many emotions run rampant throughout this story and Lili expertly ensures we feel every single one of them.
This novella lets us in on Sammi’s past a little more and it goes a long way in explaining Elliot’s role in her life. As this story progresses, the pieces of Sammi’s traumatic past continue to fall into place, leaving me reeling at the revelations. We also get to see a lot more of Jase and Sammi alone. Their chemistry is obvious despite their attempts to stay clear of one another. I can see the bits and pieces of light and happiness that shine through when she is with Jase and it gives me hope amongst the blood, violence and revenge. Once again Lili ends this installment with an unexpected twist, with Sammi’s life and her anonymity hanging by a thread.
