Title: Five Miles
Author: Lili St. Germain
Series: Gypsy Brothers #3
Release Date: March 30, 2014
My father taught me the importance of an eye for an eye—a cardinal rule, ingrained in every club member.
A life for a life.
Seven lives in payment for an unimaginable list of sins.
People might wonder why I’m doing this. If this vengeance is borne from some noble cause, that I’m trying to prevent others from suffering at the hands of Dornan Ross and his sons.
But I’m no vigilante.
I’m doing it for me. I’m doing it because I want to. Because the look on Maxi and Chad’s faces when I killed them was a balm to my soul.
This is the fate they have earned. The penance for their crimes.
Two down, five to go.
Time to send some of these brothers off with a bang.
Five Miles is definitely the most emotional book of the series so far. With her confidence a little shaken, Sammi turns to Elliott for the strength to stick to her plan. But her carefully constructed disguise is at risk when Jase catches her in a lie and starts to get suspicious of her behavior and the timing of recent events. Dornan is becoming increasingly vicious, showing no regard for Sammi. Still, she refuses to back down and she continues to struggle with Dornan for the upper hand. The power struggle between these two is electrifying.
Much of Elliott and Juliette’s history comes to light in this book. For the first time we really get a feel for the sacrifices Elliott made to save Juliette. When he realizes he likely won’t escape her revenge plan unscathed, he decides to help, once again finding himself caught in the crossfire between Juliette and the Ross family. Lili really made me feel for Elliott. His love and devotion to Juliette is almost limitless. When I heard the details of their life before the revenge plan, my heart ached for Elliott to find his happily ever after.
The story reaches a new high as Sammi decides to continue with her plan in a very big way. Lili really built the suspense in the final pages of this novella. I was on the edge of my seat, waiting to see if Sammi’s plan would work. I was wracked with anxiety when her plans once again take an unexpected turn. In true Lili St. Germain fashion, Five Miles ends on the edge of something big. Lives are left hanging in the balance, while things between Sammi and Jase absolutely explode. A moment of clarity brings everything they both know into question and we’re left dying to find out how they’ll adapt to their new situation.
