Synopsis

She had seen the unspeakable.

She had learned the unknowable.

Now, she would fight the invincible.

In the third and final installment of the Providence series, Nina Grey will marry the wrong man, carry the child that was never supposed to be born, and fight a war she can’t win.

Faced with the impossible task of protecting his new wife and unborn child against the throes of Hell, Jared Ryel is allowed no mistakes. Pressured to return the Naissance de Demoniac to Jerusalem, he revisits St. Ann’s to learn the answers were in front of him all along.
Together, they must survive long enough to let their child save them—and the world.

Review

Talk about an action-packed, quick-paced book! I’ve never had the amount of anxiety and heart throbbing that I did while reading Eden. This book takes off immediately after Requiem ends and pretty much keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. Of the entire trilogy, this installment was my absolute favorite.

The book began with Nina and Jared still on their honeymoon and in a true bubble. I adored seeing this more light side since I knew the turbulence that would they would face as soon as they returned. When they do, they figure out that they are in a whole lot of trouble, and Jared becomes consumed with figuring out how to save their lives. I absolutely LOVED that everyone’s lives because so intertwined and connected. These six people became a family and come hell or high water, they were going to stick together no matter what. I think you start to develop such a deep relationship and sympathy for these characters. They’re sort of destined to be together, but then must make it through hell, quite literally, in order to be together. It’s an interesting dynamic to see played out.

Eden was also incredibly well written. You deeply invest in the characters. You are sucked into this world of demons, angels, and hybrids. For someone who is not a paranormal lover, I found myself impressed that I even slightly enjoyed these (and I did, profoundly)! Jamie McGuire is a talented, well-rounded writer. There is no way I could ever peg her as a writer of one genre and I will continue to read what else she comes up with!
