Celebrity fashion designer, Harper Jennings is only months away from turning thirty, and her dream of living a happily ever after has yet to come true.
She’s given up on her fantasy.
Personal trainer and gym owner, Maverick Jones isn’t thrilled about having a designer mentoring in his new clinic, but after meeting the brunette beauty face-to-face, he dreams of having his way with her.
He’s ready to turn his fantasy into reality.
But when their fantasies collide, love in the city becomes more complicated than they ever imagined.
I was lucky enough to discover the gem that is Steph Nuss on a blog tour for the first book in the Love in the City series, Wanted By You. From the moment I finished that book, I was eagerly anticipating this next installment. That’s quite a bit of time to build up this story in my head and lucky enough, Steph Nuss did not disappoint with the follow through!
“So, do I want a wife and kids? Of course I do, because I want what my parents didn’t have. I want someone who will love me unconditionally. I want to be the dad who doesn’t miss any basketball games or graduations. I want to be the husband who makes all his wife’s dreams come true; someone who will always be there for her. It would be easy for me to sit here and tell you that I don’t want those things because of the people who raised me, but it’s because of them that I do.”
Fantasized By You follows the story of Mav (Elly’s best friend) and Harper Jennings (Carter’s sister). I loved that it was these two characters coming together especially with their first meeting. It’s no secret that Harper had suffered from an eating disorder in the past (and currently works as a fashion designer), while Mav was the owner of a gym and opening a clinic. Both work in industries that focus on image, but both view them in different ways. It was a great juxtaposition to have these two opposites together. I also sort of appreciated that it didn’t go into depth about Harper’s past and just on the recovery of where she was. I know this is extremely subjective, but it just wouldn’t have been the same love story for me. The one scene where we see her mentoring was absolutely PERFECT and I was so glad that it was included (it made me a little nervous we wouldn’t see any of this aspect). I think it is incredibly talented that Steph could raise awareness to eating disorders, but not focus solely on that. Because everyone’s situation is different, I think it would have done more harm than good if there was a relapse or more attention to Harper. The slight nuances and conversation in mentoring did absolute wonders for me!
“I loved him. I was in love with him and the way he understood everything about me. I loved how my past and present didn’t scare him away. I loved that he didn’t care about my money or my fame. He cared about me, and only me.”
I love that Steph can make me fall in love with her characters. She includes the whole group so you’re continually getting updates, but you’re also learning about the lives of new characters as well. There also isn’t a lot of unnecessary drama and angst. It’s just a light, fun read that keeps you turning the pages and hooked until the end. I could feel the chemistry and the attraction between Mav and Harper, but I could also feel the love of the other relationships. Overall, I’d absolutely recommend this book to others who just want a fun, sexy read!

Steph Nuss was born and raised in rural Kansas, where she currently resides with her black Labrador son named Gunner. She grew up with a passion for reading and writing. When she’s not immersed into the land of fiction, she enjoys listening to music that came before her time, watching movies and reruns of her favorite shows, and hanging out with her family and friends. She also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology that she’ll never use…unless she’s profiling her characters of course.
