Title – Hook Me
Author – Chelle Bliss
Release Date – June 6, 2014
Series – Men of Inked, #2
Michael Gallo found his calling in life – he wants to kick ass. He works at Inked as a piercer, but spends his mornings training and dreaming of winning an UFC championship. Michael is the road to achieving his goal when a chance encounter alters his world forever. The title is no longer enough – he must capture the woman of his dreams.
Dr. Mia Greco is dedicated to saving lives and helping those less fortunate. She doesn’t have time to meet Mr. Right with her busy schedule. She buries herself in her work and helping humanity. Fate steps in and sweeps the carpet out from under her. She tries to deny the pull to him, a man that uses his fists for gain, but the universe won’t let her walk away so easy and Michael isn’t one to take no for an answer.
He has a secret that may rip them apart. There are forces bigger than them at work; drawing them in and making their worlds collide – not letting either one of them walk away.
After finishing Throttle Me, I knew that Hook Me would definitely be on my must read list. From the very first chapter, the title was proven incredibly true for me…I was hooked. It was quite difficult to pull myself away from the world of Michael and Mia!
These two characters were an absolute joy to become acquainted with. I loved how completely opposite they were, yet somehow they just worked. Mia was a fixer and a healer, while Michael loved to fight. However, in the end, it is Michael who becomes the great fixer. I adored that Mia never lost herself. She was a spunky, confident woman who seemed to just grow throughout the book. Michael was a wonderful character to be immersed in as well. He was very light and carefree in a way, but still had the maturity of an adult. Above all else, I think I truly admired his relationship with his mom. There was no embarrassment despite some of the weird going things going on, and he truly respected her and her advice. It’s such a different quality to see in these alpha males, but an extremely sexy one. Together, these two characters just made me want to root for them. I like that they pushed each other’s comfort zones without allowing the other to completely change.
Overall, I was incredibly impressed with this installment. The story worked and flowed and the protagonists were fun to get to know. I also loved the secondary characters. I know future novels will be their stories, so it helped to see glimpses of them and who they are in this book. However, there were some major editing issues spread throughout with grammatical and spelling errors. I can usually overlook a couple, but Hook Me had quite a few. I absolutely would not let that deter you from this book though! Great story, amazing characters, and a wonderful world to lose yourself in!
