REVIEW – Ryder by Jani Kay

Title – Ryder
Author – Jani Kay
Series – Scorpio Stinger MC, #0.5

All Jade ever wants is an intelligent, well-mannered, and highly educated man like her daddy. One who has stellar career prospects as he climbs the corporate ladder to success. A good provider who will give her a stable life and a gorgeous house in the right neighborhood. A charmed life.
Everything orderly and well balanced.
Her perfect match.
What she doesn’t want is a smartass, cocky, rough-around-the-edges biker. One who has tattoos and piercings, and looks like a sex god. One who is demanding and controlling. The ultimate alpha male who storms into her life and shakes her to the core. Who won’t take no for an answer.
Jade never saw it coming. Ryder is the one man she can’t resist. He shows her what she really needs. Him.
Jade is the quintessential good girl. But what if she discovers that her perfect world isn’t as great as she believes it to be?
Underneath the layer of propriety, is there a naughty girl waiting to break free. Is Ryder the man to show her how?

All Ryder wants is inner peace. Freedom from the hatred churning in his gut.
Since his mother deserted him, his life has turned to shit.
He’s killed a man, lost his brother and fought for his survival. All before turning twelve.
Saved by Razor and Cobra, sons of the Scorpio Stinger MC, he owes his life and allegiance to them. The MC is his only family. One he will serve and protect till his dying breath.
What he doesn’t need in his life is a smart mouthed woman who thinks she’s better than him. One who pushes every one of his buttons. One who challenges him to want to be more than a drifter. One who makes him question everything he’s ever known.
Ryder never saw it coming. He can’t get Jade out of his head. She shows him what he really wants. Her.

Two worlds colliding. Can they make it work? Or will it tear them apart?
Ryder wants Jade beneath him. Submitting to him and only him.
“I’m addicted to the taste of you, baby. Your skin. Your mouth. Your pussy. Give it to me. All of it. I want it all.” ~ Ryder
Jade has other plans that don’t include badass biker boys.
“A perfect man is non-existent. So I wasn’t waiting for a perfect man. I was just waiting for the man who was perfect for me.” ~ Jade
Can two people, so different in every way, find love?

Bs Review

Jani Kay delivers a deliciously dirty and absolutely intriguing start to the Scorpio Stinger MC series with Ryder. This prequel novella is incredibly fast paced, laying out Ryder’s history and teasing us with Jade’s background. From the very first page this couple entertains. Their shared stubbornness, feisty personalities, and unwavering pride ensuring that they clashed in a big way. While they tried their best to fight the growing connection between them, Ryder is a testament to an electric insta-lust. I found myself effortlessly captivated by the bold and unapologetic push and pull between the hero and heroine, mesmerized by their obvious differences and the resultant friction building between their two very different worlds.

“I felt like a tramp. I felt rebellious. But most of all, I felt free.”

It must be kept in mind that Ryder is a quick and dirty prequel to the series. There isn’t a lot of emotional development in terms of the main couple yet and the author doesn’t try to delve too deeply into the Scorpio Stinger MC world with this introductory novella. That being said, Ryder left me asking far more questions than I started with, but that just makes me that much more anxious to dive into the rest of the series. We do get plenty of hints at the kind of drama, heart-pounding action, and gut-wrenching emotion that lies ahead, which is certainly a plus. I’m looking forward to exploring Jani Kay’s MC world more in depth and getting to unravel Jade, Ryder, and the rest of the characters as the series progresses.

“Two worlds were colliding. Mine and Ryder’s. Just what in heaven’s name had I gotten myself into?”

The introduction of several fascinating secondary characters left my mind reeling with possibilities as to the roles they’ll play in the upcoming novels. I am more than a little intrigued by Jade’s brother and the things that haunt him. I’m also ready to find out more about the relationships within the Scorpio Stinger MC and how each of the brothers will move the story forward. Jani Kay has unquestionably laid the groundwork for a colorful cast of characters that promise to make this series an unforgettable one. Ryder managed to successfully hook me on Jade and Ryder’s story and left me anxious to see how these seemingly opposite personalities will navigate the journey ahead.

Cs Review

I loved having a prequel novella to introduce readers to the characters as well as the world that we would be immersed in. If in the novel, it would seem like a lot of back story and potential slow start. However, Ryder really sets the scene for the events to come and allows us to see who these characters are, where they come from, etc. without detracting from the overall story.

I absolutely love Ryder! I know that he can be crude sometimes, but there’s just something so alpha masculine about him. I love that he has a tough wall to break through, but once you’re in that circle, he is so protective and loyal to you. He’s going to be a tough nut to crack, but I can’t wait to get more of him!

I also adored Jade! I’m not usually into the Princess types because they annoy me but you somehow can’t help but love her. She’s just a fun character that needs to let loose and has found someone willing to help her achieve that. I can already tell it’s going to be a struggling journey for her and I look forward to taking it with her! I’m so excited to pick up the second book and see just how much their worlds start colliding!

Author Bio

Jani has been married for a long time to a special man, and her two children and their partners are the sunshine in her life. She is a voracious reader and would spend her last dollar on a book – always fascinated that for the mere price of a book, she can escape her world for a while and see through someone else’s eyes.

Besides reading, her favorite ‘thing’ is traveling – she has traveled the world, learning about the ways people live and has come to the realization that no matter where we live, we all ultimately want the same things. Her hobby – Scrapbooking – keeps her up till way after midnight and her usual subjects are her family and her travels.

Ever since she can remember, Jani wanted to write stories about people, about their lives and loves. Relationships and Happiness – arguably the most difficult things to master in life and yet exactly what everyone ultimately desires (in her humble opinion).
